So, I find some dog sh*t on my front lawn...
Jump to: Newest in thread
Okay, everyone will say it could happen any time. BUT we're in a lockdown, it's illegal for dogs to be let off their leads. Also it was the sh*t of a small dog, the sort of thing that owners don't let run free. So someone has taken their dog out for a walk, let the lead run out to about 15 feet and stood watching while their animal ran half way up my lawn and crapped on it. They've done nothing to stop it, and not cleaned up after it.
Is it virus time entitlement? Is it stupidity? Is it just plain "don't give a crap about anyone else" and nothing to do with the current time? |

I’ve noticed an increase in dog shit on the pavements during my daily walks. It’s lazy fucktard owners who play don’t look. I’ve called a couple of them out by offering them a poo bag. That usually shamed them into action!
As a responsible dog owner it really annoys me. Where were they shitting before FFS? |

May have been leprechaun droppings.
Very similar to chihuahua sh*t in size and consistency apparently. |

random side note.... my dog is about the size of most cats. Yet *somehow* we've ended up buys XXL bags. They even say "bear sized" on the side. I could literally put the entire fucking dog in the bag. It really is quite comical when when I get one of the bags out to pick up her tiny poo.

It being illegal to let your dog off the lead was news to me so I checked the Gov and Dogstrust website to make sure I'm not unknowingly committing an offence.
It's not illegal, though local council guidelines should be observed.
Also, sorry my dog pooped on your lawn. |

"Did you see them do this? It may have been a Fox.."
Definitely not a fox. We do get foxes in the area, there is some country area only a few hundred yards away. But I know the stink that foxes leave behind... This was from something like a miniature schnauzer or one of those tiny dishmop dogs, probably called Poppy or Popsy, the sort that has a pink bow and a tartan collar. And an owner that thinks anywhere but their own garden is a suitable lavatory for their animal... |

A large number of people are taking their dogs for regular walks for the first time in forever as they see it as a right to leave the house. These people are not regular dog walkers and don't know the rules nor do they think they have to clean the shit up. |

Bloody hell, your dog lead is a bit longer than the 15 to 20 feet that I thought! Was I right about the bow and the tartan collar? |

Not a cat, that would have been shallow buried in the flower beds for me to find when I'm ing... Hopefully not too many bears wandering around suburban Manchester. And I don't suppose that the bear is one being taken out for a walk on a lead by its owner... |

Could be a fox. There was a period i saw a regular foxes on my street and coincidentally an increase in excrement.
However, if you herd a sheep, you can legally kill a dog that tries to scare your sheep
I personally think a lot of people would be out if they didn't have a dog. Dog walking?! Fcuk no, dogs are taking their owners for a walk! |

There is nothing saying dogs need to be on a law, and while its sensible its certainly not illegal.
Why do people have such trouble with what are actually pretty simple guidelines and either ignore them or in this case make up random rules |

Rules are that dogs must be kept on lead if it is necessary to stop any possibility of them coming into contact with other people or animals. Which means in a suburban area that the bloody things should be kept on a lead - though I think in many cases it's more that the dog should keep it's owner on a lead!
Basically if the dog is shitting on the middle of my lawn, either the owner has it on a lead and is watching it do it, or has it off lead and doesn't give a crap what happens to the animal. Either of these is the type of "fuck everybody else" attitude that has helped the virus spread. |

This could have happened at anytime...hardly seems worthy of posting on a virus thread. I bet it happens all the time.
Some dog owners are responsible and some aren't...end of. |

RTA.1988 s27.
A person who causes or permits a dog to be on a designated road without the dog being held on a lead is guilty of an offence.
Countryside and rights of way act 2000.sch2
During the period beginning with 1st March and ending with 31st July in
each year, section 2(1) does not entitle a person to be on any land if he takes, or
allows to enter or remain, any dog which is not on a short lead.

I've done some googling, and have to confirm that although I am certain that at the start of the lockdown I heard something about it being made illegal to let dogs off leads in towns, whereas in most places it is apparently only "strongly advised" to keep them on lead. Though there are towns which have put in place local rules requiring dogs to be kept on lead in parks and open spaces, in order to prevent any possibility of them not wanting to return to owners who might have to break social distancing to retrieve their animal.
It might sound the opposite, but I am actually a dog lover, my family had dogs when I was young. However because of my lifestyle I made the decision that it would be unfair to have a dog of my own when it would not be possible to give it the care and attention that is owed to a member of the family. Which is one of the reasons why I do get very annoyed about people that own animals but do not take the due responsibility for them, especially at this time when we all have a greater duty of care for those dependent upon us. |

Well i break the law everyday as one of my dogs is old and slow and walks better off the lead. He just toddles along minding his own business and only ever poos on grass which i pick up. I think some kids should be on leads. |

Sounds like you are exercising common sense, and taking responsibility. Both attributes that are not as plentiful as they could do with being.
And yes, I have seen children that really should be kept on leads. But then I've also seen adults that really should be kept muzzled... |

My dog thinks my garden is the only place he can poo
take him on a 2 or 3 hour walk and he will hold in until back home,
same if he is out in car or anywhere, always holds in until back home
and the size of his poo's are like a small horse lol |

You don’t have to justify yourself. Dog shit is worse than Nuclear waste in my opinion. I had similar problems. My solution was to pick the shit up after seeing the offence and running after the owner, saying “ hey mate, you dropped something outside my house”. Squashing warm dog shit into the owners hands definitely stops them doing it again. I’ve done it 4 times over 15 years and each time it’s stopped those dog owners from coming near me or my house. |

One great thing about the lockdown has been the number of normal friendly cyclists out and about. I think a lot of decent people won't cycle nowadays as they worry about being lumped together with all those arrogant Lycra clad tw**s who don't give a dam for walkers, horse riders, dog owners, drivers. In fact anyone but themselves. |

"Did you see them do this? It may have been a Fox..
Amazing deduction. You are the Sherlock Holmes of dog poo."
