We are doing a mixture of school work and practical stuff
We are going hunting for bugs in the garden tomorrow and making cakes. I keep the schooling to only a few hours, after all I’m not a teacher lol |

Don't they have online gaming or facebook? My kids are keeping in touch with their friends over games online.
As for teaching them stuff i am teaching them basic home skills like cooking and DIY. Also i use a site called sporcle, they have added a kids section on there (it's a very family friendly site). |

Don't stress about home schooling. Children all learn at different stages anyway.
It's much better to have fun and enjoyment so that children feel happy and secure rather than stress and worry over school work and the current situation.
Children learn off parents so as parents we need to be calm and reassuring that everything is ok and life will continue and get back to normal one day. |

I've had to email my daughters school, they are setting 5 hours of work each day, she's struggling with it all and feels like a failure because she's not completing all of it. I've told them she will do what she can and that's it. |

we have had loads of parents on the home education support groups lately and this has been a common complaint. But no point asking us that home educate normally as we dont do it like that. But your not alone in thinking they have a lot to do

Schools are required to set work but the expectation is simply that you will do maths and literacy and then do fun things together. A bit of structure to your day is a good thing but not everyone is a teacher. You can do so many fun things together. |

That's awful.
Only one of my kids has any work set for him (year 6) but he's totally melted and we aren't doing it. Told the headteacher that it's more important he's not having a breakdown everytime we try.
He's asd and ADHD and has a 1:1 at school.
Absolutely not worth the stress.
Tell the school to get bloody knotted. |

That's awful.

I've told her she's going to do the live lesson that's set each day and if there's time she can do some extra bits. She's not academically minded at all and the work takes her longer than they predict it will. She was doing a piece of English work for 4 hours the other day, ended up in tears saying she was stupid and she was a failure. I told her she will never ever have to feel like that again and that she will do what she can and if the school don't like it I'll tell them to feck off.
She feels better about it now but she's still not herself, she's not sleeping well and she's anxious alot. Us adults are stressed so it must be awful for our kids. I could cry for her, it's awful to see  |
