Supposed to do once the three months end? Despite a degree and being in training to be a gas a engineer I've been declined two applications to help on local farms.
Are we all thrown to the curb once the three month period ends or will it be adjusted.
Some people's lively hoods will be the last to reopen. |

my guess is they have extended it till end of june and if yiur not back at your job by then you wont be going back to that job again.can see people having to claim job seekers or whatever its called.the gov really aint gona continue to pay 80% of peoples wages longterm.my thinking is this lot if big firms may be able to weather the storm but loads of small firms just aint gona be there anymore after 3months of no trade.just my thoughts though.nay be pleasantley surprised but really cant c them keeping the furlogh scheme in place.im likley to be one of them because until air travel opens up again my employer wont be opening |

Me and wife are on 6 week furlough atm. This may be extended. Her place is shut and mine is on reduced staff as we have not enough work. Mine is pretty secure, not so sure on hers if it drags on. Will worry about it has it happens I guess. Tricky time. |

Who’s paying for it ? I notice a lot of posts in FB about Indian and Chinese restaurants closed and not doing deliveries yet others like dominos and burger/chicken bars seem to be open for deliveries and really busy.
If you only employ family can you just close still and all claim 80% without any costs or doing any work. Seems crazy , why would you stay open |

Are u trying to make any cost savings in your household expenditure already. To prepare for a possible negative outcome (hopefully not) ? |

Only buying what we need and we'll prepared to accept the new motorbike may be the luxury that will have to be sacrificed if the time comes. We have our mortgage break, so that is a weight off for a bit. |

Good to hear you’re being sensible. I do worry many people in this country are not preparing for the end of the furlough. Record unemployment is just around the corner I believe |

Am I right that if you are furloughed, you get paid via an 80% reimbursement, that goes to the emoloyer, which they pay to the employee, possibly adding more, for example the 20%, to provide full pay. Employees aren't permitted to do any work though? I'm not in this situation. I think you're alowed to take annual leave too, which would be paid at full pay, if you are entitled to it - though if made redundant, you would have your leave entitlement paid as part of severence pay. |

Probably because whilst they're away they're making no profit qin addition to losing 20% of declared income, it wouldn't be an attractive option for most unless their trading conditions had been hit hard! |

My local Indian is doing deliveries but the Chinese takeaway isn’t. They did get stranded in China though at the Chinese New Year due to the virus so I suspect saw a downturn in business upon their return. I guess most would want to try to stay trading to keep customer loyalty although this could depend on supply chain. |

Yes employer pays employee directly and then they claim the 80% pay back from HMRC. It’s upto the employer whether they top up anymore of the employees pay. The portal for employers to claim the money back opened last Monday and they pay 6 working days after submitting. True to their word I received reimbursement today for the money I’ve paid to my furloughed staff |

Brilliant news ! I’ve noticed locally this week many more cars on road and cars parked outside businesses that had been closed. Looks like business owners are starting to re open where possible |

None of the Chinese takeaways are open here, I think for the fact it's protecting themselves from racist abuse. Accusations of spreading covid 19 based on race I'd say justifies them not offering deliveries. Sad fact it truly is that people are so small minded to blame innocent people for an act of nature. These businesses are losing out as takeaway sales have increased, loss of profit right there.
Restaurants that didn't do takeaways before signed up on takeaway apps to do deliveries or their business would close. They may not be open for sit down customers but the takeaway's are booming.
I can't see the government forcing venues to stay closed as it approaches xmas, the risk of trying to enforce that would mean riots on their hands.
People are already crawling the walls now few more weeks lockdown won't have any effect people will risk the fines and prison sentences just as they'd risk the virus. The virus becomes a fact of life just as others before it. Deadly viruses and bacteria still circulate and aren't front page news this is what will happen with covid 19. We know it's there but people will just get on with their lives. So many microbes to fear this one is only front line news for now. At least one thing has shown significant change and that's air pollution in cities, less commuting traffic and it shows that some people can actually do their job from home so why not put more investment into that than forcing commuters to travel hour and more to and from work just to sit in an office when it could just be done at home. Maximising people's time and energy. |

Whilst furloughed you can do training if that’s applicable .. |

"Supposed to do once the three months end? Despite a degree and being in training to be a gas a engineer I've been declined two applications to help on local farms.
Are we all thrown to the curb once the three month period ends or will it be adjusted.
Some people's lively hoods will be the last to reopen. "
I have seen jobs advertised that state not open to those on furlough. I'm assuming because furlough is seen as temporary certain employers want staff committed to an x period? |

When I got furloughed we got letters saying if we did work for anyone else it could lead to dismissal. |

...and that's another thing. My employer hasn't stipulated we can't work elsewhere and they're topping up our salaries to 100% but they are the exception. |
