Getting confused as every day the Government briefing and press carry the sad figures for deaths from Covid. However the figures they use are for the date the death was announced, rather than the date it occurred. The NHS site carries the information for death by date and it shows a distinct drop in numbers that isn't being communicated in the briefings and I have no idea why?

Figures by the date the death occurred are available here:

It only shows a distinct drop in numbers for the 23rd. Deaths that occurred on Thursday won’t all be processed yet. If you go back in next week the number of actual deaths on Thursday will show as much higher once they are all recorded

The figures are being updated daily and there are several days that are subject to change. Taken over previous weeks there is a distinct difference in the curve that isn't reflected in the announced day chart. This chart seems to convey better news on the success of the intervention.

I always remember the famous quote.

Three types of lies.

Lies damn lies and statistics.

Different sources, different stats, non of which will ever be totalky accurate.
