When he said , disinfect the lungs or put ultraviolet light inside a patient, I yelled out “And you Mr Trump are stupid, and you can’t fix stupid”. He opens his mouth but his brain doesn’t engage.

I wouldn't get too optimistic about "sunlight killing it" as being too hopeful.

After all two of the worst hit European countries at moment apart from UK are Italy & Spain who have an abundance of sunlight even in Winter/Early spring compared to UK.

The fact is the virus is being spread by being in close contact in indoor settings such as hospitals,care homes, theatres, large gatherings and both offices and at home. So unless we were all able to live outside in the sunshine at least 2 or more metres apart for rest of year don't think this bit of news will help much.

This is actually pretty interesting on the UV front (it's not a Trump link!), although the treatment is not ready yet, and his communication skills are so terrible he should really stay away from this stuff.

The problem with Trump is he is beyond parody.

This means when he actually discusses something that could possibly be a lead to a treatment, he is so inefficient at articulating this that it gets lost in all the inane gibberish that pours forth from him.

His other major fault is his narcissism, his desire to be the centre of attention which prevents him from letting someone else address it more articularly to the media and the public.

The one thing the government in this country has got right is the press briefing format. First politician speaks, then hands over to the scientist to go over the fine detail, then the politician closes by recapping and reinforcing the main point.

The only thing we can be sure of with Trump is that there will be plenty more choice cuts from the "Donald"

Incidentally, drinking water may contain up to four parts per million chlorine. Swimming pool water may have a slightly higher concentration but, would you seriously want to drink that?

Drinking a much higher concentration of chlorine would cause severe chemical burns to the oesophagus and stomach, the body's instinctive reaction would be to vomit which would only make things worse as stomach acids wash over already damaged tissue.

It doesn't sound like a very pleasant way to spend your final moments really.

He was leading a press conference, where people expect to get solid information, and was instead just speculating about potential treatments (assuming he did in fact mean UV light treatment rather than sunlight) , which would need significant further investigation.

When questioned by the member of the press, who rightly suggested that the president should be giving out information, rather than wild speculation, he dismissed them as fake news.

As someone who thinks that nurses should not be posting dancing videos, I find it hard to believe that you're okay with the President being so irresponsible.

There is researcher on Far UVc light in the 207 to 222nm range, very save to be used around humans as it won't penetrate past the dead layer of skin or even through the tear layer on the eye, so no danger of cataract. The lights can be used anywhere the public gather, Planes, public transport, bars, restaurants, schools, hospitals ect.

Just seen that speech from Trump, he is talking about Formaldehyde, they use it in vaccines already. It’s works as a disinfectant in the blood stream by creating A form of ozone I think.

He never explained It very well, but thats what he meant.

There’s a doctor called Michael Moseley whose research I usually follow that spoke about it too. I tend to trust what Michael says. There are a few things they are working on using existing meds, alongside formaldehyde, which from what a can gather is the vaccine their using this week in Oxford.

The problem is his open question / thinking out loud could easily be interpretated by many as an idea, a suggestion and I'd have thought anyone with an ounce of common sense especially in his position would know saying something as ridiculous as that in a press conference that the near entire world will see is irresponsible beyond belief.

He was not bright enough to realise his overt brain farts would influence some to think it was advice

He was suggesting with his limited thinking that he thought it plausable that a doctor might be able to inject normal bleach

The science of UV light treatment is on a par with Homeopathy - apparnetly the less you use of it the better the effect which suggests thta using none of it should be most effective. the article says, in summary, that no-one knows how ti works, the vidence of whether it works is poor, and calls for more research. That's hardly a ringing endorsement.
