End of my lock down im back to work monday, as recived my phone call today to say every ones back at work,social distanceing will still apply and masks and gloves provided. Just cause weve past the peak, it looks like goverment has asked businesses to start back up... were as numbers of cases are still riseing in area. Yes london youve gone past peak not the midlands. |

We haven’t passed the peak properly yet, that is just some people’s interpretation of it and it is because of these kinds of things that the numbers could shoot up again. All those lives lost and we’re going to throw everything away for a trip out. They have made it more than clear to us all. The rates of infection and deaths need to drop first. |

Most businesses were never asked to close. The advice was to go to work if you can't work from home. There were specific businesses that were asked to close like non-essential retail, spas, pubs and restaurants. Everything else was meant to continue with social distancing. |

We are not past the peak, we are at the peak. And afaik this is also the official stance of the govern. The rules of the lockdown didn't change and are not going to change before another couple of weeks.
Arbitrarily decide that business can restart as usual looks like the best way to force the govern to make stricter rules. |

Some businesses were always exempt but either chose to close or could not get the social distancing requirements sorted over night.
B and Q is such an example, they are not reopening because the rules have changed or we are past a peak they are opening because they are now properly set up to manage the staff safety requirements. |

Everyone is going to assume that it's back to normal a month from now we would be back to square one.
Obviously it's great for people to be earning money but I think it's a bit too soon.
Still fuck all I can do about it other than keep myself and family as safe as possible.
Guessing people will also assume it's ok to start meeting again? |

The rules are work at home if you can, there isnt nor have been any rules about not working of course the 2 mtr rule at work needs observing if possible, often it's not, ie police two in a car, or bin lorries with three in. Some of us just have to carry on |

Very true however a lot of businesses closed anyway due to mis interpretation, staff fears, sickness and a host of reasons.
I work for a council supporting businesses to get the grants atm. A lot were aware of the above now and had previously shut down at the start of lockdown as it seem the best and right thing to do for staff and they weren't set up for social distancing.
That good will is ebbing away couple with a month of lock down to work out how to be social distance and still be productive. I've spoken to a lot of businesses today who are planning to reopen at the end of the 2nd 3 week period regardless as the simple fact is they have to if the want to stand a chance of surviving.

I think that any business that can't guarantee social distancing must stay closed unless is "essential". Giving masks and gloves to you employees doesn't make any difference. It's difficult to imagine how a manufacturing industry could work with effective social distancing.
Of course no one is enforcing
the rules at the moment and anyone can basically do whatever they want. |

So will the company be doing mask fittings for all staff ? If not total waste of time wareing them. Seen a man with a beard with a mask on total waste.
Try doubling the figures for the deaths and people having it. Hubby does a lot of work for hospital consultants and they have told him the true figures are never released.
Far too early for work they are trying to push it for the economy but not for human life |

You will find a lot of businesses closed due to the risk of liability and the directors facing potential,prosecution if they could not put measures in place to protect their staff.
It’s likecsending a guy onto a building site with no Hi-Viz and hard hat.
A lot of companies have used the time to make alterations to their workplaces so they feel safer and have minimised the risk. |

There is a very unpleasant reality. Lockdown only slows this virus it will not eradicate it. If businesses are not trading and workers not working, we are all hurt economically and mentally, possibly for many more seriously than the virus itself! We can’t shut down our economy for 12-24 months and wait for a vaccine or we won’t be able to afford or have the capabilities to produce it! Most business may not be essential for a few weeks but if they are not providing an important product or service after a few months what is the point of their existence? Obviously there are sectors that will have to remain closed for a long time but others need to get moving again whilst minimising the risk of virus transmission as far as possible. That may mean significant changes, factories for example may have to run night and weekend shifts to spread the density of their workforce. Far more employers have been sent home than the government had intended. Many of us have been able to carry on working with changes to working practices such that working poses less risk than a trip to the supermarket does. Those at home on full pay and unable to contribute meaningful work for their employers should be expected to be helping their community or at least undertaking some online training courses to improve there knowledge and skills for when they return to work. It’s not a bloody lockdown holiday! |

The government has made a rod for it's own back by offering to pay 80% of wages. Loads of companies have decided to lock the doors and take the money instead of adjusting to the situation and carrying on. |

No this is global pandemic war  . I’m not sure which number... there have been others but given for most we didn’t have many tools to try and fight maybe earlier ones were not wars just massacres?

You state that as fact when it's completely untrue. You have done this a few times on the forums now i.e you post something as fact when it's just your incorrect and uninformed opinion buddy.
Many businesses closed at the start of lockdown who weren't on the list of businesses and sectors who were instructed to close by the government.
A hell of a lot of confusion existed at that point and numerous businesses closed for various reasons including fear and misunderstanding, knee jerk reactions, to many staff of sick to operate and for many they were unsure how they could / would implement social distancing in the work place to the standards required.
One of our roles as the council is to work with these businesses to get them access to grants and also provide advice on guidance on the current rules & how those rules relate to their specific business as well as advice on how to implement social distancing requirements within their specific workplace that meet the governments and local authorities standard.
A lot of businesses have now had a month to get on top of things and are starting to reopen because
a, they are allowed as long as staff and customers are protected by social distancing measures
and
b, they can't afford not to anymore its now or never if they don't open in the next few weeks they will go under.

Half of problem with people is they're incapablale of listening or reading.. People have always been allowed to go to work.. Any work.. However, some businesses were deemed to much of a risk so were, by instruction, closed...
As a duty of care to their staff they also closed..
They have now worked out a safe way to now continue to operate where by nature of the jobs people would be in close proximity to each other.. Once procedures and ppe is in place, re-open for business which they are doing and will continue to do so.
Business's that are on the "stay closed" list, still are..
