Except they did not as there hardly anybody on the roads.
Comparing Covid with normal times is pointless.
It’s 77 people who died a horrible lonely death.
The relatives of people who died in road traffic accidents at least can be at their funerals. |

Also it refers only to people died before the 3rd of April. The current number is much higher. |

Died of or died with? Had underlying health conditions? Have been autopsied to find cause of death? Figures can be used to prove anything you want. The truth about figures is that we will probably never know the full facts. The NHS can’t afford to do much more than treat the symptoms in front of them. There is a high chance that these unfortunate “younger” people were already ill but not realised. Cancers, heart conditions, blood conditions often get missed as we soldier on through life dismissing them as colds, fatigue, coughs etc. |

My niece is in a coma two weeks now age 32 ... her step dad passed away last Thursday.. in the ward next door .. I also know of 3 other that have passed .. it’s not a joke guys x |

The only way to prove the effectiveness of the lockdown would to be segregate and isolated 2 half's of the country.
Have a lock down in one and let it rip in the other.
Sadly I can't see any politicians suggesting they use their country as a live science experiment.
Letting tens to hundreds of thousands die to prove to a few nutters that a lock down is needed ain't gonna fly with most of society. |

Wrong, the lock down was to prevent mass contamination.
The contamination is now more controlled but on going, probably somewhere between 5-10% infection rate.
When the lock down is lifted it will be in stages with the least at risk from chronic illness let out first. If they build their immunity that will prevent others getting it.
So primary kids
Secondary kids
Young adults
Workers who can socially distance
As each group is let out they will circulate the disease more, building that base immunity in a controlled fashion rather than survival of the fittest.
Over 50's 60's and 70's will be harder calls for a government to make as they carry greater chronic risks.
I can't see over 70's being allowed to socialise prior to a vacinne (Christmas at the earliest). When they are allowed to socialise the government of what ever colour will get bad press as the vaccination will not be 100% effective and every death not prevented will be reported as a failure rather than a realistic tragedy.
When lock downs are lifted don't expect it to be like before. It will be go to work / school and come home. Leisure activities will be way down the scale and supermarkets will still have some management of customers to allow those at risk but still in lock down to buy.
I don't expect retail to ever be at the level it was as this will have accelerated the take up of online shopping and similarly some companies will realise that paying out for buildings, power and furniture is completely un nessasary so more working from home. |
