It is with sadness to say someone one in my community has died from this killer virus.
She was admitted to russells hall hospital perfectly fine without any signs of temperature or any colds. She gave birth to a beautiful daughter. Next day shes on ventilator to says shes got the killer virus. 2 days after her left lung collapsed. Hope faded, but family still kept strong for her, for the sake of her new born daughter , 2 year old son and 3 year old other daughter, but they started to loose hope in last few days and requested for the top lungs specialist hospital in leicester for her to be taken their, after a tough battle with gps and MP the was transfered their and all hope faded away when the doctors removed her life support early hours of the morning and she was gone. The devestating News was broke out to the family today 11am. I am writeing this with tears from my eyes. Such a beautiful young asain women and only been in UK 3 years and her beautiful life was taken away by this.
Only one word the kids lips, whens mama gona come home and put me to bed. |

She gave birth 13 days ago, she started showing signs of temperature 3 hours after, and breathing difficulties and immediatly was put onto.ventilator. It is believed in the birthing room their was a staff nurse ill from.a few days but was still working, THATS WHEN SHEs CAUGHT IT. Since then was on ventilator and was final twitched off today as she could not breath on.her own.
Its a deep shock. For her family who.cant bear the pain, her mother whos all ready to.ill and doesnt know her daughters died. As they know she will collapse. As it was her only child
just think about that poor little new born angel who didnt even get the chance to be breast fed by her own mother.....
How are these kids gona live their life and grow up without their mother |

That is such a horrible thing to happen, you don't expect to have to face this after such an event.
This is why we are asked to only make essential journeys, if you go into hospital there is an increased risk of getting COVID-19. |

My daughter is due to have a baby next weekend, she is adamant that she wants a home birth as was the case last time she gave birth.
The midwife has said she must have a hospital birth and that if my daughter insists on a home birth then the midwife will not attend.
As you can imagine my daughter is somewhat distraught. |

I'm sorry to hear this news but she would not have caught the virus so quickly after hospital admission. The average incubation period is 5-7 days...longer in some. The minimum recorded so far is 2 days, which is still outside of the times this lady was admitted and then symptomatic. If she was not showing symptoms and did not have a temp on admission, this doesn't mean she didn't have the virus. It means that it hadn't caused symptoms yet.
This is a very very sad situation for all involved but finding blame in the hospital isn't going to bring her back or help other people reading this who are already scared

Im sorry to hear what has happened but must reassure people what you have said cant be accurate
A lung cannot collapse whilst on a ventilator - a ventilator inflates lungs.
The pathology of covid19 and the timelines you suggest are also not a match |

It is also not possible for her to catch the disease and have that sort of reaction within 3 hours. To suggest she caught the virus from a nurse and almost instantly had lung failure because of this is not reasonable |

Very, very sad, but agree that it's highly unlikely she caught the virus from a nurse |

Did anything go wrong during the last labour/birth? |

No problems, but did have the back up of a midwife, The back up plan for the home birth are the next door neighbours who are both paramedics. |

I think one of the major concerns with home births at the moment is the already extra demand on the ambulance servive may delay/prevent an ambulamce being able to attend to transfer to hospital should an emergency occur during labour |

It CAN take more than two weeks from becoming infected before any symptoms appear.
On the other hand, hospitals are full is sick people, and there could be many infectious people there... with or without symptoms.

I fully agree with u, she had been.in n.out of hospital all wek.for her daily scans. But like u said incubation.period is between days. So she might caught.it before and not showed any signs till giving birth, but we dont know.we now their was a ill nurse stil working so any things possible. It affects every one differntly. Yes people are scared and should be as this case. |

No one has treated this as a joke. I have a family member waiting to give birth and a gentleman on here has concerns for his daughter also. It's an unknown quantity and we all have to hope for the best. |

Each to your own comments. Im not a doctor to suggest whats right an wrong or how the precedure should be of covid 19,
Yes she had lung difficulties
yes she was on and off ventilator to see if should breath on her own
yes her one left lung collapsed,
Only those that have been affected know the outcome of whats involved
not by ur comments of pathology and whts right or wrong, or whether it adds up.or not,
U should be ashamed of your selfs those that leading this as joke, somes lost their life from this COVID 19 after giving birth regardless of when shes catched it. Where shes catched it and how long the it takes for signs to show.

A lot of us are upset and confused by this awful thing and a lot of us won t go untouched by it at some point. We just have to look after ourselves and stick to the guidelines, we can do no more. |

There's already a lot of people dying because they are afraid to go to hospital
Going to hospital is immeasurably safer than going to the supermarket and it's wrong for people to infer otherwise.
People are already concerned whether it be child birth or an illness, and they need support not fear
Yes what happened to the poor unfortunate woman is an absolute tragedy but it's very very likely she would have suffered the same fate or possibly worse having a home birth.

This is extremely sad and upsetting for her family and her babies left behind this fucking virus is evil, all i will say is if you can give birth at home and you have no complications then DO NOT GO TO HOSPITAL, giving birth at home will be more painful and more messy and you need to be confident with the things involved cutting the cord etc but if you can then give birth at home |

If the health visitor or the nurse at the clinic advises a hospital birth then that is what the expectant mum to be should do..
If there are complications an ambulance will be required and they are stretched enough, the hospital has the people on site to deal with any issues straight away..

Yes it's scary, but they should go to hospital, it's unlikely you'll get a midwife for a home delivery even then things can go wrong. |

What a load of tosh! Try reading the research and actually talking to the group of families who birth their babies at home.

Some trusts have suspended their homebirth support (that’s illegal) those still running have seen a big increase in home birth, which is safer than a hospital birth unless there are pre existing and relevant complications.

Ps, women give birth, pizzas are delivered. |

Just to clear my earlier post i am in no way quilified and you are free to total ignore my advise thats your choice.
The viral load thats the amount of virus your body is taking in will increase massively at a hospital, maternity wings wards should be completely cut off from the rest of the hospital until this virus is over |

From what family are telling me all areas are segregated from the icu/covid wards in the hospitals they work in..
Pretty strict on infection control usually and more so in this crisis.. |

Illegal? Can you provide evidence of this? |
