Much as I support the sentiment, the petition has been raised by someone who clearly does not understand the honours system.
Unfortunately, he can not be given a knighthood, unless he is already a MBE. To get a MBE, you need to be an OBE.
It's a tier thing.
And it's not the government who decides who should ve put forward. There is a nomination process, and anyone can nominate someone for an honour.
I could, for example, nominate my mum for the years and years of voluntary work she has done.
I'm afraid I very much doubt the petition will achieve anything.
Nice to see he had a guard of honour this morning though |

It is because of guys like him we won the war and the modern generation could learn from him.It is being British yes a great man must be honoured,we must all try to learn from him and we will beat the virus and the aftermath. |
