Yes apparently the corona virus is attracted to street lighting that's why the world has to plunge into the darkness

A week last Tuesday. It went out in a heavily suppressed memo, signed by the Environment Secretary, Rt Hon M Gove (MP)

There may be local problems with the sensors on top of lanterns not working as well, probably because of seagull shit (since you live in a seaside town) and local maintenance being cut back, but there is no they who can turn down street lights.

My street lights work like a Michael Jackson video... One step forward and another one comes on and the one behind turns off. Makes for a fun walk home from the pub

Maybe less diffused light due to less smog/pollution

Probably to offset the huge demand from 60+ million people sat at home using electricity. Either that or your eyes are getting worse as you age. You need more light the older you get.

"Maybe less diffused light due to less smog/pollution "

Probably the most credible explanation.

Though I love the suggestion (as long as it remains a joke) that the Coronavirus loves to buzz round lights like they were moths.

I've not seen any change to the street lighting in my area of Leicestershire.

Several years ago the borough council decided to turn off the majority of streetlights between midnight and 05:30; walking home through the housing estate on my way home at 04:30 each morning the same lights are still on.

Seagull shit on sensors is a known problem...cuts off sunlight so lights stay on in daytime....
