Alcohol - are you drinking more
Jump to: Newest in thread
As someone who normally has 4 bottles of wine in a year.. I can safely say I've had more to drink since lockdown than I'd had in the entire year last year.
I'm by no means getting d*unk but made me think about it when my teenager said " more wine mum"...
I'm mostly using it to help keep me housebound once I'm clocked off from voluntary stuff x as I wont drive if I've had a drink |

I would only have almost a bottle of wine once a week on a Saturday. Now I'm having a lager shandy every night. Not excessive but more regular, the weather making me fancy a shandy. |

"No - I barely drink anyway so it isn’t an issue
This is my point. I've gone from rarely ( like a glass or two for my birthday.. christmas and the odd party. To most evenings x "
Why do you think that is? Is there nothing else you could do instead to distract yourself? |

In the evenings I would normally be doing something sexual.. so instead I'm having a glass of wine once the kids have to be to bed. |

I love how so many people on here 'rarely' drink
I indulge in a wine or two every evening since I was 21! Shoot me
As for food? I am out of sync and have lost 3lb in 2 weeks (which I can't really afford) as working from home is taking longer, I am not having lunch so to speak and it's nearly 4pm before I remember I haven't eaten all day, but then I am a lazy eater at the best of times especially at the weekend I normally just have 1 meal, so struggling to keep some sort of routine. |

I’m not drinking any more than normal. I usually indulge in a gin and tonic most nights but never normally exceed the advised weekly units. I got into the habit of measuring my gin when I dieted so I could track points/syns and it’s something I’ve kept doing ever since.
Food however is a whole different ball game. I’m bored at home shielding and boredom leads me to snacking even if I’m not hungry. I’ve not been further than the back garden for 3 weeks and I’m going stir crazy. The warm weather is nice but the pollen count is not! My hay fever has hit at full force making my eyes itch and my asthma get worse. I fear that if this continues, I may need to swap my lip balm for superglue before long |

Same here, except I never get the urge to have a drink. Its purely a social thing for me |

That's a sharp increase so your daughters comment "another wine mum" makes more sense. Have you had periods of daily drinking at different points in the past?
I am for the last 10 years like you were i.e I have a drink on my birthday, Xmas, odd party if I wasn't driving and I could go months without. When I was younger and certainly in my military days it was very different.
Since lock down there wasn't any booze in the house so I've made a point to not to get any when shopping just so the option and temptation isn't there.
Anyways it's an unprecedented time so all I'll say as someone who like you also the forums is you always come across as decent person and I understand and share some of the same frustrations. I'm lucky I've have my partner in swinging and crime to be locked down with so my high sex drive isn't building up as an additional frustration.
Take care

Im drinking less if anything as pubs are closed. Also told by lady friend this afternoon that I've lost some weight...more walking and doing more on my allotment. She too has hone down from size 12 to size 10 leggings....and i must say was looking fitter than ever. Though possibly down to not seeing much of her for 3 weeks? |

Drank for the first time in a month a day or two ago.
Was planning on my first drinks happening post-lockdown but sometimes your sanity has to be higher priority.
Embarrassed I bought drinks and it's taken me a whole day or two to drink a beer can. Also made a gin liqueur think yesterday afternoon which will probably take 2-4 days to have in my current state. |

She is an independent/self employed carer. Ran out of PPE last week and unable to source any for a week or so...but I could so travelled 7 miles to deliver. I left on doorstep stood back and spoke from a few metres away.
She will not risk her patients by having actual contact with me and I respect that. |

So many good people on this thread. I am drinking my usual amount which is slightly over the recommended amount, but someone has to keep the Scotch industry in business. |

I am definitely drinking more... and eating way more as well. Mostly because I’m bored and I can’t just sit and watch tv without some chips... then I get thirsty and need some beer. It’s a cycle :P |

"Lots of 420 profiles these days. Wonder how they are getting on. "
They’re probably the ones congregating for bbqs or taking trips to the seaside. After all, if they’re happy enough to advertise their illegal drug use, complying with lockdown and social distancing is hardly going to be high on their list of priorities |

I'm not drinking more. 1 beer a week maybe. But using exercise time well. 5k jog 4 times a week, walk 3 times a week, and the garden has had quite a lot of knocking down and digging |

I'm going "cold Turkey" . I found myself drinking much recently, woke up 2 days ago with worst hangover ever so I'm stopping for an undefined period. With almost 0 triggers, I think it's the best time to cut down alcohol |

I don’t drink at home unless have company normally. I’ve broke that once and had a drink online with a friend for their birthday, but just the one.
Personally I think it’s a to easy slope to slide down when you are already feeling low... once I start I wouldn’t stop |

Yup, but this is something I've noticed in the last 6 months which has increased. Lock down has seen it rise again. Not to the shit faced can't walk but a cpl glasses wine 3 or 4 nights a week. Not a habit I wish to continue.. Stress drinker
