News reporter are regularly commenting on the health/status of Boris.

What will happen if he has to go on a ventilator? Who will do what if he cannot work?

While I would not wish it on anyone, certainly not on Boris. Are they actually wondering what happens if the worse comes to pass and he doesn't make it?

If he's out of action, which he probably is on a CPAP machine, then Raab takes the reins. If he doesn't make it, presumably Raab takes temporary charge until the Conservative party elect a new leader, which would be a challenge to do during a lockdown. So long as the Queen is OK with Raab forming a Government, I'd reckon he'd be in charge for the foreseeable.

I thought deputy was gove but think raab takes over.

I think he will pull through..even if he does he will have to take a back seat.

Its already known ...

For now, Raaaab in charge, with Sunak next in line if Raaaab falls ill.

Looking at anything else after that is not required at this point, other than to say there is an agreed process.

How will Corbyn take over?

1. You would need an Election.

2. He isn't a Party Leader.

?

From what I understand, Raab is the deputy and acts in Boris place, so would in theory be the guy temporarily running the country. Should Raab go down then the Chancellor (Rishi Sunak) steps up?

For me the question no one is asking is, how many more people are dying in the UK each day than the generally accepted average of 1400?

Hasn't this been going on long enough now to get a new average (if it's any different)?

The formal structure is clear and appointed personnel in situ. They're largely a rabid bunch but some of the worst are far from the reigns. Raab would take the position of responsibility. No elections etc needed, apart from his constituency. It's a party matter. The investigations etc into the horrendous Priti offensive woman will be forgotten, as would anything else that they would bury at the right points, as they have form for.

A unity government team taking on health matters would be ideal.

According to ONS the week ending 27th March, COVID 19 accounted for 4.8% of U.K. deaths that week.

There is no deputy PM.

Dominic Raab is First Secretary of State so he takes charge.

After that the Chancellor is the highest ranking Secretary.

had labour won the last election and corbyn was pm.....diane abacus would be in charge of the country right now if jezza had taken ill or died.

I've heard some news presenters speculating about the possibility of a Government of national unity - just as they did with the problems around brexit.

Do they seriously not understand how government and democracy works?

That might be a solution if Boris was not to make it. Though we're a long way from that, if the reports are accurate.

None? Because net new C19 daily mortality is still (way) below 1400.
