Taking up from the conspiracy theory thread that just got closed would anyone care to explain why income tax is going to be abolished next week just at a time when governments will need shed load more tax money to pay back the massive debts they're incurring. |

I would appreciate an abolition of the higher rate band. Currently working 80-90 hours a week to cover isolated colleagues and keep our site open and legal. Currently lose 42% on all hours over my basic 40 hpw. Hardly seems financially worth it to bother doing the extra work. But if me and my team stop then the site shuts, people wont get the essentials they need delivering and all our low earning temp employee's would be let go. Morally we couldn't refuse the hours, just be nice to see the benifit of doing them. |

From the figures you quote I roughly estimate that you are taking home at least £2k a month in overtime so you must be seeing some benefit

Well he said hes been taxed to whack on all above his standard income. So standard income £50k. Standard week is 40 hours but hes working 80-90 hours a week. So 40-50 hours overtime on a £50k salary even been taxed at the highest rate isnt a bad earner.

Your maths is correct, so yes I will see some benifit, although the wife was in a probationary period and got laid off before the government supported with the furlough scheme. So when you put it that way it isnt all bad. Would much prefer this bloody virus didn't happen though! Cash is useless if you are dead. |

I know plenty of people who earn more than that in o.t. That's on top of a 50k salary. Doesn't help when a days overtime is nearly 400 quid. People get Greedy then need more of it to finance their lives. |

It would be nice if the government remembers those of us who have had to continue working and paying tax through all this when it comes time for it all to be paid back! Will never happen though. |

Well maybe you should all refuse the hours then or go off sick if its that much of an issue.
Your employer would then have to take on extra staff. There are plenty people out there who currently have not a penny to their name and dont know how to feed their kids. They would be grateful even if it was temp. Your employer would be better off wage bill wise too and you all would be less stressed. |

Well maybe you should all refuse the hours then or go off sick if its that much of an issue.

In a normal day I’m sure they would but these are extraordinary times and people, who are what businesses are, are making decisions and doing things to produce outcomes rather then looking over the whole situation. |

I've been averaging about 70hrs a week for several weeks now because it was the right thing to do and directly supports vulnerable people.
It's mentally tiring but morally rewarding, so no complaints from me.  |

Theres the hidden rule-
Can only work a maximum of 12 hours a shift, must have 12 hours rest between shifts, maximum of 13 consecutive shifts then must have at least a day off. No more than 72hours in a week.
Although I think the rule is dependent on job roles. But that's the rules I must follow by law as a train driver. |
