That's good because they were on the endangered species list, the need to increase in their population they are vital to our population as the pollinate most of our food supply |

Many of the queens are out and about looking for places to establish their colony. They use places such as old mouse holes and tunnels, depending on the bee species. The queen's are typically large and thus more readily noticeable. I keep a good amount of my garden wild, to support wildlife, such as insects, frogs, and hedgehogs. I can recommend planning by height as well as protective cover, as different animals vary in their requirements. I grow a large number of wild plants too, so that native diets are supported. It's good to have food plants in place for the majority of the year. |

Not all bees were put on the endangered list. Only a few of the 20,000 different species of bees. |

If that gave you the shivers you should have seen the video my mate who lives in the canaries sent me of locusts. |

You are absolutely right Minx. Bees are so important. They are fascinating creatures and keeping them is an interesting and rewarding hobby. No garden is too small so we recommend keeping them. We got over 35 lbs of honey from the first year from one hive. |

I got to watch a pretty sight yesterday, small swarm of bees dancing in the sun rays of about 100 or so. They weren't agitated just graceful dancing. Tried to take a picture and video but just doesn't come out well. Can't see them on it the sun ruined it.
Don't mow lawns to save the bees first flowers they get nectar from are dandelions. So forget garden aesthetics save the bees when other flowers bloom you're safe to rid the s.

Have you tried planting lavender and seeing if that comes through in the honey taste? |

"Why do wasps get so much bad press? They pollinate too but are deemed to be bad guys"

I don't mind wasps or bees. I prefer bees and wasps a pain when your having a picnic..
I went into a greengrocer once and asked to buy a wasp. The grocer said, we don't sell wasps Sir.
I said, Well you got one in the window...

Wasps mainly eat other insects early in the year, taking them to feed their young.
However they will eat anything sweet.
Later in year, they have an issue with too much fruit which can ferment creating alcohol and making them aggressive and much more likely to sting |

I have a Bramley Apple tree in my garden and every September when I pick up any windfall apples that have fallen while I'm at work I have to wear thick gardening gloves as under most of the fallen apples is at least one pissed up wasp, totally wankered on fermenting apple juice. |

"Seen quite a few out in the garden recently.
Found one that was struggling, tried the water and sugar trick but it didn’t work "
I had to do that a few weeks ago. It was a MASSIVE bumble bee. Very weak. Very noisy. Very sleepy. All I had in my bag was some mints and water so I crushed a mint in water and plopped the bee onto a school book near an open window. About 10 mins later he/she flew out of the window. I felt very happy. I love bees |

The bees are just fine and dandy going by the swarm that went down my chimney this morning. Luckily dispersed with a bit of smoke and heat applied, could I find the swarm after to safely capture and put in a hive. Not a chance, obviously found a much cosier spot. |
