With the weather predicted to be warm this weekend can we all make a plea to the people who will try and go out at the weekend to keep to the rules. If we do not then the government will impose stricter movement restrictions which will penalise those of us obeying the rules. The sooner we all keep to the rules the sooner we can beat this virus and get back to normal. |

If only the British public could be trusted. I fear decent weather will only bring out the idiots again. And a lot of them will probably have their own outside space at home, be it a garden or a yard, so there's no excuse. It's poor bastards like me who live in an apartment with no outside space who are really going to suffer.
But I'll be staying in regardless. |

I reckon the same idiots out last time will be the same idiots, and be out this time. And will continue to go out whatever is said.
Sadly I think there are elements of our society who just dont give a toss. |

We need stricter lockdown rules, check out train stations, there's no social distancing at all, no police patrolling these areas, some of the public are following the guidelines, but for me, the lockdown currently is a joke from what I have seen |

Absolutely - its non existent. No one seems to care! Watching from my balcony, I see groups of people together.Only answer is a much stricter lockdown - maybe even curfews. The fact is that we at now days away from 1000 dead per day expected every day in April. are we gonna see 100000 dead by June?! |

But but...but... how then do we get to show off the hideous clothes we keep just for hot days? Please don't take away everything that makes us British! |

Trains, “ crowds of people packed in like sardines in a tin “. No face masks of gloves in site.
I have seen people in parks playing basketball and groups of kids on bikes, the hot weather is only going to make it worse.
I have to work as a critical worker but given the choice I would rather stay in especially as I care for my elderly mother. |

Black cab drivers are complaining about no fairs, would it not be a good idea for the government to hire them to transport the key workers around. |

Essex Police have put out a notice on Social media telling people in no uncertain terms to stay at home.
They have made it clear that they will be taking action against anyone ignoring this |

I have been watching footage at train stations, it looked like a normal morning rush When I saw it, I was astonished.. No patrolling of the area, not even train station staff.. Today was 600+ deaths, and the sequence of events seems to suggest there is daily growth, Italy and Spain are probably good sources to see how this could weigh up for the UK.. With the 1,000 per day prediction looks likely to me, not sure beyond that, that is unknown currently |

By stopping the spread of the virus this will ultimately reduce deaths. It can't help those already affected but will reduce how many more get it |

I think essential workers should be given special passes allowing them to use public transport, and anyone who isn't a essential worker, obviously need to be off work and not leaving their house, but this will only happen when lockdown is stricter which will clear the train stations and defuse this |

What concerns me is the possible weekend conduct of those flocking to the coast or gathering in parks.
They will make things even harder for those who just want to walk alone for an hour or make s quick trip to the shop for food.

two more of our NHS nurses died today from the virus, willingly in the front line exposing themselves to the virus to try to save us, if this does not make the idiots contemplating going out for the Easter weekend what will ?, think of the families of these two nurses, their children, their sacrifice,

Well maybe Mr Johnson should impose stricter measures but then again look how long it took him to lock down the country it was too late by then but hey this is the same guy that UK voted for to stay on as pm I wonder what the thoughts are now where people are dropping like flies simply because of his hesitatance to act on such a serious matter maybe something to think about when voting comes round again |

Lincolnshire police have made it quite clear that they will not allow an exodus to the coast this weekend, and not for Easter breaks.
Many people have holiday caravans at the coast, and a late Easter is traditionally the start of the holiday season. These people have been told to Stay Away. |

This weekend people need to stay home. Some people can be so selfish and rationalise their need to be out and about because the weather it nice and they "need" to be out because it's "unfair" etc. Think outside yourself and have some social responsibility and that your actions have consequences.
This is happening globally, it's a global problem.
Stick it out, stay at home, save lives. |

My local park was mobbed today, people playing in groups and sun bathing.
Tesco’s, people rising around not sticking to supermarkets shopping practices “ so much for Socail distancing “.
If this continues will only result in stricter lockdown procedures. |

I don't understand why the police aren't targeting beaches and parks. Well it's either gonna have to be a stricter lockdown for longer including curfew or in all likelihood at least 100000 dead - I know what I'd prefer |

The current lockdown measures aren't being followed at all, I've seen countless videos this week, of people at beaches sunbathing, train stations packed like it was a normal day with no social distancing, people out in groups going to one another's houses, homeless people still on the streets, something definitely needs to change, as this will only get worse |

Anyone in eastbourne today would have seen the 5 traffic cars sat at bottom of lotteridge drive all out chatting and laughing (no social distancing) in the sun.....with one randomly pointing a camera down the road...
If ok for the police to behave as such....then joe public isnt going to bothered...
I thought all emergency services were fully stretched....we had good couple of hours watching the carry ons

I’m baffled as to why any venue that even has the potential to allow mass gatherings such as public parks aren’t already closed.
Surely we all know that when you give an inch Joe Public will take it a bloody mile.
All we had to do was set in place some admittedly tough rules at the start so that we could stem the number of new cases to hasten a return to some level of normalcy.
But no, fucked it as per usual |

Yep: couldn't believe it. "
Madness, they should close all parks, all places like that, tape off beaches, the fact we are seeing all this, and there's still no action made, really does show how oblivious and clueless this government is.. The growth of death will rise and rise until they create stricter lockdown measures.. The NHS should make a video of what happens if you don't stay at home, will that be enough for people to think |

So true.
close all parks and have an advertisement campaign on telly of the consequences
“ sounds harsh “ and may be upsetting to view but might be the only way to get the message across.
People are not listening and taking this seriously, its lock down not an extended national holiday. |

These tough viewing adverts and video episodes I think will cut a chord with people and will educate the ones that aren't sure how to behave and I think it'll really open the eyes of the ones that are blindfolded to it, as it is truly worrying people are acting like this is a holiday |

Fact of the matter is ambiguity leads to transgression because people will always find loopholes justifying themselves by explaining they mean no harm or are otherwise exceptional.
The existing measures we have in place aren’t working because people aren’t paying the true cost of their lack of adherence.
Until of course they or a loved one succumb at which point it’s too late and they have already endangered others. |

How do you decide who is an essential worker?
For example is a software engineer an essential worker? Is a call centre operative essential?

A list exists - abide by that.
And if your employer insists you’re a key worker when really you work at a Sports Direct warehouse dob your employer in.
If you can do your job remotely from home do not leave the house unless you have to buy food. |

I won't be going out anywhere this weekend and will be following the rules to the letter, as I have since the lockdown began.
However I do question the advice and enforcement of the lockdown. Surly the important thing about the lockdown is to help enforce social distancing and to make sure people remain as far apart from each other as possible and at least two meters apart. If people are able to achieve that then where they go, how far they go or how they got there really should be no concern of anybody else.

"With the weather predicted to be warm this weekend can we all make a plea to the people who will try and go out at the weekend to keep to the rules. If we do not then the government will impose stricter movement restrictions which will penalise those of us obeying the rules. The sooner we all keep to the rules the sooner we can beat this virus and get back to normal.
I've seen the clips from over there with the pact underground trains absolutely disgraceful carry on but then wonder why the cases and death tolls shot up
I think essential workers should be given special passes allowing them to use public transport, and anyone who isn't a essential worker, obviously need to be off work and not leaving their house, but this will only happen when lockdown is stricter which will clear the train stations and defuse this
How do you decide who is an essential worker?
For example is a software engineer an essential worker? Is a call centre operative essential?
"
Obviously workers in the NHS every single position, supermarket workers, police, firemen, local shops that sell essentials, pharmacies, care industry workers, dustmen, call centre people who obviously need to be on the phones for emergencies, advice lines call centre staff, bankers, there's probably some others, but you can see the pattern of what's essential and what's not by those in the list.. If it's in or around those things then that's what I would deem as essential workers and anything outside that shouldn't be working |

A list exists - abide by that.
And if your employer insists you’re a key worker when really you work at a Sports Direct warehouse dob your employer in.
If you can do your job remotely from home do not leave the house unless you have to buy food.

But the problem is they’re not are they?
Given the R0 of this virus has been mooted at 2.6 (I believe) it only takes a small minority of people to aggressively infect the remainder ergo the need - at least in my opinion - to blanket ban social interaction outside of the home as far as possible, as soon as possible.
The numbers of dead keep rising every day in this country so right now we face a stark choice: trade-off our liberties in the short term or keep seeing people die from this virus. |

No I said if you CAN work from home then you should.
If you are not a key worker then it’s your call as to whether you go to work but I personally would try my best to avoid doing so if conditions meant there was even a question about being able to do my job safely as per social distancing guidance.

I disagree. I think most people are keeping to the 2 meter rule since it was made clear. I think any further tightening of the lockdown would be counterproductive. People will not be able to follow the existing rules with ease for months on end. Further restrictions will simply lead to the time when the people say "enough is enough" coming sooner.
The important thing to enforce is the 2 meter rule. Any enforcement beyond that is unnecessary.

I am, which is why I'm pointing out that some sort of "key worker pass" to use public transport would be totally unworkable.

You say people are abiding yet the number of dead keeps incrementally rising every day.
The steps taken by this government were too lax and too late.

Yes that’s how I read & understood it. That IF it is possible to work from home then do so. The list of businesses that have to close were retail facing businesses. I think you're right, the public have misunderstood, that's why public transport places have been packed during weekdays.. Some are terrified to stop working which I do understand and some employers have been misguided.. It's horrific because people don't know if they're coming or going, they don't know what to do, and I do understand why people are questioning because they're worried.. Just hope everyone comes out of this the same as before the pandemic |

The number of people dying is a three week lagging indicator. We are only just starting to see now the results of the imposition of the lockdown 3 weeks ago. The statistics do actually seem to show a slowdown in the rate of increase of deaths but it's still too early to know. We currently stand at about 750 deaths per pay. At the rate of increase in deaths we were having 3 weeks ago that figure would be close to 7,000 by next weekend. If it's less than that then the lockdown is working.

And the fact that the lockdown took so long to implement is why we’re on a worse trajectory than Italy.
I suggest you look into John Burn-Murdoch’s work as a matter of urgency to look past the government’s attempts at spinning this. |

Some say we are on the same trajectory as Italy, some say we're doing a bit worse and yet others say we're doing slightly better. Time will tell.
However the current lockdown measures are starting to fray around the edges as we approach the expected peak next week. If they had been introduced any sooner there is every chance they could have frayed and broken before we actually reached the peak.

I vehemently disagree.
I think had the lockdown been more far-reaching in its scope it would have primed the British public to accept the seriousness of the threat faced.
Instead it’s being taken as less so because it’s not gone far enough and folk have now started to agitate and bristle at having to stay at home when they’d rather be in a beer garden by now.
Missed opportunity. |

Lock down measures starting to fray.
Scotland chief medical officer Catherine Calderwood ignores her own advice and shoots off to her second home for the weekend.
Well done Catherine, you were doing a good job. Now you have underminded yourself, your government and made a mockery of protecting the NHS. Hypocrite.
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/apr/05/scotland-chief-medical-officer-seen-flouting-lockdown-advice-catherine-calderwood
Pictures are to be found in the red tops.
Anyone thinking of using this event to excuse their own similar action might like to reconsider and think about the harm they can unknowingly do to our vulnerable people.
Take care all, and ignore the 'leaders'! In general we the people are a doing great job. |

If ok for the police to behave as such....then joe public isnt going to bothered...
I thought all emergency services were fully stretched....we had good couple of hours watching the carry ons
I don't think the emergency services can really do there job properly, whilst applying the social distancing rules, eh?!
Ow so when just hanging out with colleagues social distancing doesnt count (only 10 officers)....im sure wont be missed then if passed around each other...
"
Whats the point in them social distancing one minute when they could be rolling around on the floor with a pisshead 10 minutes later. They can't social distance an arrest.
If your house was on fire would you be happy if Trumpton turned up and only Fireman Sam got out the engine. |

Get your point however wouldnt it had been a better use of thier time helping in hospitals or with vulnerable rather than over 2hrs of larking about as us mere mortals doing our bit....... apparently according to the news or resources are stretched..... |
