The way I read this statement is that it is designed to be weaponised in the future to place blame for Covid deaths onto the public. Rather than everyone pointing the finger at the government and Boris’s ineptitude instead it’s been designed for people to blame each other for the loss of life.
Government give mixed messages.
Each press conference they make a new promise rather than accepting responsibility and being held to account for missing the last promise.
All I see is a government with no cohesion, no strong leadership and one attempting to deceive and confuse.
If heads don’t roll after this it will be the biggest injustice since Hillsbrough! |

Hasn’t the government always been like that ? and nah can’t see any ‘heads’ rolling as people will look for a solution rather than point blame but having said that a lot of people are blaming China so who knows what could happen in this mad weird world |

If I was suspicious minded I would say the display of daily ineptitude, err press conference, may channel us into calling for more Citizens Assemblies. I would likely continue that such an authoritarian facade and affront to democracy as a Citizens Assembly may be the way this government plans to appease the public after their current performace/act. If my mind chose to engage rant mode I would add Beware the NHS Citizens Assembly appearing in a town near you soon!
But I'm not sispicious minded so I won't say any of that.
I will just add £12.4Bn of historical NHS debt written off just like that? Really? Weren't people being told NHS hospitals must close, life saving treatments too expensive and equipment shortages just had to be accepted?
monopoly money |

I think the "public" are doing a good job of blaming each other already. Some people seem way too interested in what everyone else is doing. I think it's up to us to maintain some personal integrity and avoid being manipulated into policing our neighbours.
This is my personal opinion only |

To be fair, most of the NHS debt comes from New labours PFI policy, but when I heard Matt Hancock saying that money was no object I remembered Teresa May's scornful response to an NHS nurse, 'theres no magic money tree'. It does show you that tory cuts were driven by ideology. |

To be fair. There is a "magic money tree". This is what the govern is using now to pay all plans against coronavirus. Unfortunately this magic tree doesn't create money from the void, it steals them from the future. |

A genuine answer to stop the magic money tree from stealing from our childrens children is the Bradbury Pound.
Maybe take a look into it - I guess we've all got time to learn new things now we in isolation. It answered the problem before.

Don't know what's going on because lockdown doesn't work, look at Italy and Spain it's all bullshit, people are still catching it and been in isolation for 2 weeks. Lockdown is governments around the world just trying to look as they are doing something. There's lots they are not telling us. |

Lots of adverts on bus stops telling us "Anyone can get it!" "If you don't stay home - people will die!" and other fear-mongering, to cause panic and fear in people.
I'd love to take a look at these through the sunglasses from They Live, to see what they would say. |

People are still touching door knobs, buzzers to flats, stair rails etc.
Flights from China and Italy continued to pour in early on with people just walking off back into the country, no checks, nothing.
Continuous propaganda from the BBC, Sky news, telling us we have to change the way we live, get used to a new way of life, hand over our freedoms. Full of misinformation, no fact checking, passing on anything they're given to the public as though on a stone tablet. In other words, no scrutiny and no doing their job. |

My daughter works in the NHS. A senior nurse was telling her yesterday that some Corona virus patients have died because the Hospital is running out of Oxygen for ventilators.
THIS is why we are being urged to stay home. To reduce the spread of the virus so that our Hospitals can cope with those that do get it and keep the death toll down.
You can try and apportion blame to whoever you like, but the more people that continue to try to dodge around the advice will result in more deaths.
I have a friend who's nine year old son is currently, as I write this, in Great Ormond street fighting a life threatening auto-immune condition. Another child on his ward was moved yesterday after testing positive for Covid-19.
Really wish people would stop thinking of themselves and look at the bigger picture.
There are people putting themselves in harms way so that others can continue to eat and can get any medical attention they need and yet all some people can do is complain.

Not saying people are dying and it's getting worse, just asking how it's getting worse if we are in lockdown how are so many people still catching it. 100 2 weeks ago now over 1000 a day catching it, makes you think it's not just face to face contact or numbers would be going down. Or am I missing something. |

Instead of people focusing on pointing blame and crying about things that arnt important at the minute like who's at fault and things that were done wrong, how about we focus on what is important NOW.
Helping in whichever way we can to stop or slow the spread of this and helping those who are unfortunate enough to need assistance in this time of fear and uncertainty.
Whatever happened to the old additive of the british "stiff upper lip", when the going gets tough we suck it up, put a smile on our face, make a cup of tea and carry on making the best in anyway we can, like back in the days of ww2.
There have been plenty of times in the past where we have been tested as a nation and there will be more to come, lets all just do what we can, when we can.
I welcome any criticism on what I've just written, however that's only my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own. |

I'm not a biologist...and probably spelt it wrong too...but I would say we have only been in lockdown for less then 2 weeks. But by the time it gets to the killing point seems to be 2-3 weeks.
So really this has another few weeks before it peaks..that is if we all stay away from each other |

It’s makes sense to me, staying at home will limit the spread of the virus. Let’s take each day as it comes, be as socially responsible as possible and worry about the blame game later. |

Because people have already been infected and may take up to 2 weeks for the symptoms to appear. By staying in you reduce the number of people being infected in the future. |

They already had it, spreading around households, people still working, people breaking the rules, lots of reasons. It is going to be a long haul, it can't be any way else sadly until a vaccine and antibody test is available. No doubt the rules will relax in a few months but those at risk will still have to distance themselves until they either get it or get vaccinated |

The NHS is a bit like the Armed services. There are always defence cuts, with cheaper equipment and staffing cuts until there’s a war and people start coming home in body bags! All of a sudden there’s a public outcry and the restrictions are lifted. Same with the NHS, the debit is most likely unrealistic end of year spending cut targets that won’t be met due to the present situation. And as more NHS staff die the greater the the pressure on the government to give them what they need. We can see this with testing kits.
Having served in both I see the similarities |

I know we all can't see it but this has been in the air for years flu the one you get a vaccine for is SARS- covid 2 . The common cold is sars. The achy joints, bad breathing and lethargy is covid. Each variation they make a vaccine for. When you think the actual number this has jumped is actually only a few up from the pig flu that is doing the rounds again then sorry but it is foreseen just came 4 years early.
Yes if the Chinese didn't eat bats and pangaline it may have been sorted with vaccine ready. It is not the virus that is unexpectedly here just its timing. A virus will adapt to live an awful lot quicker than mammals, birds or reptiles. Even I hate this but we need our NHS and others from the low paid jobs. We need to try and keep together and from me that is saying something.
Please remember everyone on here right now is mine and I am sure others only release from our own heads. |

The incubation period is stated as 1 - 14 days so a person that picked it up on the last day of 'freedom' could be ill/contagious at any point for up to 3 weeks and be passing it onto members of their household which then begins another potential 3 week cycle.(using the gov advice that you should isolate for 7 days from symptoms showing).
That could total 6 weeks for a household to be clear of the virus (maybe more if any of them manage to escape being infected immediately)
On top of that what seems to be killing people are complications after the virus such as pneumonia developing, which again takes time.
This is also assuming that they have no outside contact with anyone which would of course potentially begin the cycle again if they infected a visitor, someone whilst out shopping etc. etc. |

Also, NHS staff, police, carers, bus drivers have to come into contact with people every day and will take 1-14 days to show symptoms. Each could infect someone else either at home or at work resulting in another case in 1-14 days ad infinitum.

You are completely missing something! There is a time lag of approx 20 days in all of this so look at the numbers for new infections in Italy and Spain - both falling now and that will show after that time lag. Here too the number of new infections has fallen for 3 consecutive days . If not for lockdown, Spain , Italy and the UK would have seen approx 10 times the number of deaths if you remember the forecast of 250000 with no lockdown. It's the only way out of this mess but it's gonna take time but it will lead to better figures hopefully by the beginning of May |

Specifically something the OP says. He says the government takes no responsibility.Yesterday and I quote Nick Hancocks words.
" I take full responsibility for the decision taken to test patients rather than NHS staff".
You watch his press conference or did you not watch it. Can't say I watched all of it but I did hear him utter those words. so where is that not taking responsibility for a fundamental decision. The guy said we will make decisions, some of which may prove to be wrong and after the dust has settled questions will be asked and we must learn from them. Soooooooo what is wrong with that. Tell me. What is wrong with what he said. He might sy it in a slightly wavering unsure way but there is no road map for this outbreak.
They are doing their best.

Yes there is a magic money tree. It's a 500 Billion noose that has been put round the countries PSBR for the next 10 to 20 years in the form of government bonds and devaluation of the pounds. It's printing of untold billions that could cause hyper inflation at some point. It's higher, astronomical interest rates at some point in the future if they've got it wrong.
That is your magic money tree. |
