Something I was informed about by a funeral director that I deal with at work who have been given guidelines by their local health authority, if anyone sadly passes away with COVID-19 any jewellery etc that is on their person stays with them, nothing is allowed to be recovered from the deceased so if any has any family heirlooms that they wish to pass on but are still wearing then I would recommend that you remove them now and put them somewhere safe (just incase) otherwise they will be lost forever.

Well I'd wager that the funeral directors will do the first bit...as there are no open coffin funerals  |

That's part of the problem isnt it though? Nobody seems to be told the same thing, I only shared it because if it is true in some places it's an easy enough thing for people to do so they dont lose anything of sentimental value. |

That's what I said, but from what the funeral director said their just covering all basses and not taking any risks, who know anymore I travel all over with my job and to be honest the difference between the way things are handled range quite greatly between different clients and different council's etc, no wonder joe public dont know if they can walk their dog or not, since the professionals are just as confused. |

I’m pretty sure you can contest that with the director as items can be bagged securely and over around 5 days the virus would die anyway without a host.
I cannot see any funeral director opening themselves up to a potential law suit.
