I’ve not been stopped or seen anyone stopped yet. I drove to Nottingham (Colwick) this week and back. Roads were quiet, I didn’t see one police car there or back. |

Just heard of a local person being followed by police to the nearest big supermarket (1/2 hour drive away) and told to turn and go back because there was a food shop nearer to his home (3 minute drive away) . |

Why did they not stop the person and ask where they were going rather than follow for 30 minutes?
Not doubting that you've posted this in genuine belief but it doesn't sound kosher.. |

I'd be calling them a liar straight to their face. There's no way the police followed someone for 30 minutes to see what supermarket they were going to. |

I know of two colleagues who were stopped in their way to work, I suspect that COVID -19 'stops' are now Police KPI's and the various forces have to be seen to be pro-active in generating figures so local & Nat Gov can put up the statistics and say;
"Here you are, we're enforcing the LD."
Of course, they've not clamped down on the groups of youths who congregate in one if our local parks to smoke dope & drink into the early hours. |

I'm still very mobile with my job attending emergencies on critical buildings.
And I have seen virtually no police car's or police on patrol.
What I have seen is an awful lot of cars still on the road, lots of people out and about.
Yes traffic is lighter but still seeing lots of people 4 or more in cars driving to places to go for walks! |

Last week when I was commuting to work at 5am I was stopped on the m6. The fact that I drove my show car didn't really help, the officers assumed I was just taking it out for a drive, however when I told them what I do for work, where my workplace is located, where I'm travelling from etc (basically provided them with all the necessary information) they were very polite, thanked me for doing my bit for the country during these challenging times and let me go on my way.
Since then I've been using my normal car to work and back and haven't had an issue. But apart from that I've not heard of anyone getting stopped. |

Loads been stopped round my way. But I must add these have been people out on motorbikes not cars. Been told to go home if caught several times they have had motor bike taken from them |

Seen a couple of police cars and vans around but they weren't doing checks. I understand that they shouldn't be doing the type of road checks mentioned as a general rule. They serve by consent for everyone's benefit. |

Everyone (including police) avoid me like the plague when I'm driving around in my work van, it might have something to do with the bio hazzard plates that I have displayed |

I’m doing a lot of miles all over the south west, inc up and down the M5 on a daily basis and if anything Ive seen less police around and certainly no sign of any checkpoints either in the cities or out in the sticks... |

Police are probably concentrating on popular touristy areas. Incidentally, I have a copy of the actual Covid emergency legislation. Police have NO POWER to stop you in your car to ask where you're going. They have a power under the Road Traffic Act to stop you to check your documents BUT 'ive stopped you to check your documents' has to be the first thing out their mouth not 'where are you going?' Nowhere in the legislation does it say Police can stop a vehicle to ask where the occupants are going. |

That's enough... the need to go miles because you always shop at Tesco when there is a Sainsburys near by is beyond me. |

That's fair enough... the need to go miles because you always shop at Tesco when there is a Sainsburys near by is beyond me. Non essential trip "

Absolutely true
However how does the extra 20 miles contribute to increasing death or suffering ? |

"Do you go to a small local shop with a higher chance of not having the essential item you need OR drive +5 miles to a large supermarket with a higher chance of having the essential item to need ?
"
Yesterday I went to 2 large supermarkets and couldn't get what I needed (bread mostly for my lunch at work) had to visit my local shop who had some, arguably with a short date on it. But still had to visit 3 places to get what I needed, it's most annoying when you are trying to stay at home as much as possible. |

The cost difference between shops is a critical factor in many folks life. Routinely shopping with a brand just because is one thing. But there will be millions out there who have to save every penny, even more so with this fantastic uncertainty we have. |

Don't see them when I've phone police over domestic incident.. Took 10 days to acknowledge me..
Live rurally..
No chance seeing them. Only 2 officers in duty at anyone time in the 8 areas near me. Yet have big army barracks on our doorstep.
Its coming though.
