Worth popping in for a few days to go to the Art Institute, which has some great stuff and the architectural boat trip...! Plus there is a bar at the top of the John Hancock Tower which is worth a visit... I think they have changed the name of the tower now... |

Downtown is fantastic, with all the museums, Adler planetarium on lake shore drive. And some of the best dining in the mid west. Get out of the city center and it becomes a war zone |

Born and raised in Chicago and I can’t imagine living anywhere else. Media definitely doesn’t like Chicago but things are fine as long as you stay in the Loop and on the North Side. I’d avoid the South and West. If you are on the East side then you’d be in the middle of the Lake. |

Although there’s truth about crime rate, staying in the loop, East & North Chicago would be safe. Chicago attractions in these areas would be of interest. I live in the suburbs, but whenever I’m in Chicago I’d be aware of my surroundings & know where I’m going. Just be more watchful like you would in any other place. |

We are going there for Marathon weekend so 6-11th.
Won’t be meeting as have family with us but looking forward to it.
Presume the subway from Airport into the Grant Park are is ok? Usual be sensible and stuff I presume.

Yeah, subway to grant park is fine during the day. Not sure I'd venture on it after dark.
When I have been in the central loop it's always felt safe but venturing south is hair raising. Going north is fine. |

Any more for Chicago this weekend? I will be arriving Thursday staying in the magnificent mile area. Haven’t been successful in finding any clubs that would be great to have some company while I’m in town |
