We have been learning salsa for the last eight months and are now just about capable of a simple dance together . I must admit we both love it

Simple cross body style ,I had a go at Cuban but not being a natural dancer ,I just got confused and it affected my confidence.

i have to say i love dancing salsa, but it can be very limiting for a lot of ppl as 1, there might not be a local salsa night and 2 unless you have salsa music in your collection it hard to practice, yes there are some suitable english songs. A great alternative is modern jive, le roc or the brand name a lot of ppl know is Ceroc, without getting to technical, you could say it is a mix of salsa moves as well as rocknroll/jive and it looks pretty good when you get the hang of it( like anything else) on the plus side you can dance to all sorts of music, not just salsa, everything from michael buble, black eyed peas, jean paul young, the killers, the list and genres are endless and of course it is easy to go to a nightclub or other social events and dance to it

In defence of salsa, I have to say that I've been dancing salsa for many years and have yet to find it limiting in any way in respect of the genre of music you can dance it to....it is, afterall, the rhythm you're dancing to that counts not who's playing the music. I would hate to think people are put off trying salsa because they think it's only salsa music you can dance to. H x
