Visiting Manchester 4-6th May.Need suggestions for where to stay

Visiting for 2 days/nights. Don’t really wanna spend too much for accommodation but don’t wanna be too far out the centre. Any nearby towns etc? Fallowfield? Salford? Are these too far? Would love some suggestions if possible. Looking at renting through air bnb so I can have guys come and go to use me as they please
