I know a man, from here, who is now stalking me in real life. He has deleted the profile I knew on here (though undoubtedly has another one which I haven’t seen) and is contacting me on other social media apps (using different variations of his name so I can’t report him to the police)
Any advice on how best to handle it? |

Sorry to hear this is happening to you.
Keep a log of all the names he uses and the different ways he is trying to contact you.
You most definitely can contact the police about this just arm yourself with all the info you have on him.
Tighten your security on your social media. That way regardless of the different ways he tries, he won't be able to see you or contact you.

Absolutely keep a diary as above. Ideally screenshot and save any messages. Contact the police sooner rather than later on the non-emergency number or online. That way they have a record of it being an issue.
They'll probably suggest the same as above in that you try and block anyone who might harass you online and keep a log of any messages. If you know who it is and have any contact details for them then pass them along. |

A few years ago, I was seeing a girl casually...
She was always a bit off with me and used to get angry if I stayed too long at hers...
After a few months of casual sex and the odd few days away here and there... she became really difficult and not very fun to be around... so I just simply told her I wasn’t enjoying it again...
Boom... floods of tears... telling me she wanted to keep it going...
Turns out she was very controlling, and Inhad just been so easygoing, I hadn’t even noticed... and as soon as I did something she had no control over, she flipped...
I work as a DJ... and she turned up out of the blue to quite a few nights... got angry when I refused to go home with her...
Made sure I wasn’t chatting to any girls etc...
I was receiving phone calls late at night at the weekends... constantly...
A week later, I decided to share my plans for the day on a twitter, on a day I specifically knew she wasn’t working...
She showed up at the café I was having breakfast in, and two other places afterwards...
Each time I just ignored her and left...
What worked for me is being indifferent to it...
Not reacting, not replying to messages, not answering any questions they asked me...
Being polite but in a way where I showed no desire for conversation, but also no desire to rise to anything and get angry...
They either want you to love them or hate them
But if you give them nothing... they are more likely to go elsewhere...
Stalkers are attention seekers
And they are also controlling people
If they can’t get a reaction
Can’t get your attention
And feel like it isn’t working... they will quickly look else where for that attention...
I never got angry
Never complained, and never showed any evidence that I was ever effected...
Expect for one time when I raised my voice and politely told her to stop harassing me...
It was in a pub where I was playing some music, and she was really worried that people would hear what I said...
After that, I instantly went back to ignoring her...
It worked for me... not saying it will work for you... not saying you’ve not tried it either...
