Many folk, we note, always ask to be sent face pictures via this site (presumably they are willing to reciprocate in this). Something that has occurred to us is that these pictures are automatically watermarked with the sites name and also the I.D. of the sending user. If these photos are then received by a less than scrupulous person they could be saved and perhaps posted on elsewhere on the Web with malignant intent, with the possibility they might be recognised by the friends/enemies of the person featured in the picture . The friend/enemy then has all the info they need to track down the profile of the person/s concerned and see all what us naughty folk are up too! Worried? Should we be? Any views?

As a site supporter you have the option to auto delete pictures after being sent. But that doesn't stop a screen shot being taken. It's all about not letting someone pass the pictures off as their own.

You need to decide if you are willing to take a risk.

You've it the nail on the head when you mention screen captures. Nope, We think we will stick to sending un- watermarked ' vanilla' pics by separate email as the safest bet.

Interesting that you were unable to post on the forum - I was surprised at having little or no response to a topic of this much importance. I suspect it is a topic the site owners might not want discussed and they are blocking it in some way. I understand your 'get out clause' but still strongly feel that any Fab watermarked face pic gives a direct pathway to those that know you to your profile. Imagine if your everyday address book were compromised and these images sent to your everyday contacts...all would be able to visit the site, view your public pics, perhaps recognising your homes décor, your car motorbike, etc. etc.

My advice is to send vanilla face pics only via separate email direct to those you are interacting with on Fab. This keeps your face separate from your Fab i.d.

It is surprising how many questions brought up in a forum post end prematurely by the thread being closed, isn't it? Sometimes the subject matter may be a bit unwholesome but in other cases you do wonder why . . especially as the whole thread is still available to view yet nobody can comment?

Not an easy answer here, though I suspect the incidence of trolls hunting you down from a Fab piccy must be an awful lot less than your pix being simply stolen to be re-used elsewhere? The Fab watermark, being right at the bottom, is easy to "cut off"? One reason why you see our pix with a lot of watermarked text over or near the "juicy bits".

Sometimes the ONLY security is accepting the risk but making it harder to be used by others.
