Hi,

We have recently bought some mountain bikes, mainly as a way to shed a few pounds and build fitness, we went out on short rides a few times a week, we were enjoying it and seeing results when the weather changed and put the blockers on everything. Can waif for spring/summer! X

We have suffered massive destruction up here the past few weeks with the half baked flood deffenses we got that failed in ways worse than ever . Hundreds left homeless with no belongings . Multiple towns roads and bridges destroyed . . . . . But we are made from strong stuff up in the hills . We will rise up and our tranquil county will come out ontop . Bit of rain or snow dont stop us smiling

Never thought of doing the forest of dean myself but you've got my interested now..

Obviously they don't call it forest for nothing but what kind of terrain were you riding on?

Off road thru the woods? Mud trails or tarmacced paths/roads?

I'd like to ride up and have a little ride around but most likely on my cx bike so paths and gravel/grass are about as rough as I can do.

I will Google it and have a good gander later.

I've already got the eland valley pencilled in for next spring and wouldnt mind putting a few other places into my list of prospective destinations for next year.

Forest of Dean has fantastic trail centre with lots of trails for trail bikes and DH but also some great off road routes ideal for a cx bike.

Im a bit of a roady and can often be found riding round the roads of the dales or the Trough of Bowland, although I do have an MTB too and enjoy getting over to Gisburn Forest occasionally.

Have ridden LeJog and the plan for next year is C2C so spending time on the turbo in this weather, but cant wait for some sun on my back.

This so annoys me when muppets give us guys a bad rep. I never expect anything even on a meet. That way everything is always a bonus.

I'm always up for a ride out

I raced a lot when I was younger, but that's in the past now, I enjoy social riding and just getting the miles in. A bit unfit just now, but I have new years resolution coming on.

I'd welcome company from anyone of a similar mind

SE London branch here. Since moving the bike up to London I've been getting some miles in along the various routes - looking to up the mileage and lose some pounds in 2016. Fun along the way would be good!
