"Suggestions of where to eat please?
Somewhere decent, preferably not a chain restaurant... ? "
Indian? Kutis is good. And Ghandis in Portswood for modern Indian.
Most of the restaurants in Oxford Street are worth a look at.
There is a Vietnamese, too, which we haven't tried yet but will do very soon. |

What's the Vietnamese one called? I usually go for a wine/tapas bar, so this may be a nice change |

Whoever suggested Ports wood. .that's a shit hole.
Oxford Street has Italian and an A la Carte place.
For drinks AND food Ocean Village either:
Pitcher and piano
or
Bannana Wharf.

There are a couple of Bella Italia in town that are ok. There's the usual Chinese and Indian and also a vege Indian restaurant in the high street just up from Wetherspoons. |

We went to a place a few years ago was amazing.
Cuban, South African, and Mexican hybrid food.
I think?
All while smooth jazz music was being played.
Great food.
Sorry not much help.

"Nice, good to know of decent local places to eat. "
Tried out Pho Vietnam last weekend. Very good within the confines of Vietnamese cuisine. Very good value, too. Not licensed and always feel a bit ripped off at being charged corkage but on the whole recommendable. |
