Dogging somewhat of a legal grey area, and the laws regarding public sex, nudity, lewdness, and their enforcement, vary by jurisdiction. In the UK, there are laws against public sex but they mostly are concerned with protecting "unwilling witnesses" from seeing acts of lewdness. How this would be applied to sex in front of willing witnesses, I have no idea. However there are killjoys out there who see it as their public duty to take their dog for a walk down the common at midnight for the sole purpose of becoming morally outraged! If there is a complaint, you may be prosecuted. And in some areas the local police have been stepping up patrols to discourage activity at notorious dogging hangouts. |

You mean the killjoys who work antisocial hours but still want to take their pets for a good walk without seeing nudity or sexual activity?
Pick your areas very carefully and if you do engage in dogging accept the risks. |

The one time the police came on mass (in a riot van lol) to where we were they checked out who we all were and left has to be said that:
The site we go to has a long run up to it so you can see any lights coming.
By the time they arrived we were all sat in our own cars.
The single guys had fishing licenses and all their kit in the car and claimed they were going fishing near by.
Me (the female) had a long cardigan on that could be done up easily to cover myself (although as the police left the site they did comment that they thought I had no knickers on lol)
It seems nothing came of it (this is over a year ago) but then they didn't catch us doing anything other than "going out for a drive"
We have been told that our local police are only really interested in activities between gay/bi men....
It's worth having a plan before you go out, think about where you park your car (we were all parked away from each other) and to give most time if the police arrive to get in your car etc.

Having been caught at it on our own at 1230 am on a Sunday night Monday morning by the boys in blue at a local dogging spot we can only say what a totally unpleasant experience it can be, the threats the officers made didn't bother us just the manner in which they were made. In addition when ever I parked up after the police always come over for a "chat" and ask what we were up to. Leagal or not you do risk police recrimination but I have not heard of anyone getting arrested or ended up in court, it would be interested if anyone had had that experience. |

Speaking as an ex - bobbie the offense is committing a lewd act in public.
Most of the time you'll just be told off as long as you don't get too arsey with the police.
A lot of paperwork and prosecution isn't usually in the public interest.
The trouble is that what makes most of the dogging spots good also makes them good for drug dealing and other nefarious activies.
