If your looking for fun pubs, where you might just find playmates. We'd suggest Jurys Inn right in the Pink Triangle.

Personally would not entertain Jesmond as its taxis to the city or a ride on the metro or a peasant wagon.

Royal station hotel has good deals and is close to everywhere

We'll need to have a check online and see as you say somewhere close to hand to the centre would be better

Jennandrob are spot on... Jesmond isn't handy even tho it's only a £5 taxi..

Station Hotel is obviously opposite the train station and therefore handy if you're getting the train...Sleeperz is also handy for the station...

Holiday Inn Express and Jury's inn are 5 mins from the station and close to the Pink Triangle but also handy for other bars too!!

Sandman is lovely too, it's close to St James park, lots of bars and Chinatown!!

Hope this helps, if you'd like anymore info, feel free to ask!!!

Persobally speaking i would give Jesmond a massive miss, full of students and criminal mischief at the minute haha

would however recommend either Holiday Inn Express (which they say base rate of £114 a bight but ive snapped up a room at £59 before through comparison site) or Jurys Inn (next to pink triangle which again they say base rate of £75-80 a night but through comparison sites have snaffled a room for £35 before)

Theres also the Thistle which is quite a nice hotel, Royal Station is rather outdated and showing its age, Premier Inn (Quayside or City Road - First on preferred over latter due to city centre location and easier to get too after a late one) theres also Travelodge on city road which is rather nice for the price but can be noisy at times. And Jurys Inn in gateshead and the Hilton in gateshead.

Preferrential to myself id recommend Holiday Inn Express or Jurys Inn over the rest. Free Breakfast at Holiday Inn haha x

East Lothian

I've stayed in the Thistle Hotel a couple of times and it's always been really nice. Good prices too

defo good deal there then, i remember 2 year ago when they had an offer on at £70 a night on Valentines Day with free bubbly and stuff. its the kinda hotel where if ya look hard enough theres deals to be had (6th+ page on google territory haha) same with most really, i never pay full price for many things

If you're going away with the missus for a naughty weekend, may I recommend Malmaison. It's on the river with a great view of the Millennium bridge. It's got a bordello feel with some rooms having purple velvet walls. Walking distance to a lot of Newcastle night-life. A bit pricey, but I'm sure the missus is worth it.
