There's loads to do in this fair city of ours, depends what you're after........tons of places to go on a night out & plenty to do in the day too.........Evil Eye is "quirky" but you'll wait an age for a drink like........get yourselves to Sotano, pivni (for good beer) or Kennedy's for a dance late on |

start at the Punch Bowl (end of Blossom St) then work your way up Micklegate (loads of bars and pubs) as its an infamous "pub crawl" before ending up in the centre.
We used to live in York and know it well.
Beautifull place to be....... or come to Wakefield |

I'm taking it on board, but every town has some pissed up wankers... and I think I've got quite good instincts on where I'm not going to feel comfortable... but thanx for your insight.. |

Each to their own I guess. We have some fantastic nights out in York, Micklegate is where all the younger ones go for the 2 for 1s etc and a lot of tourists but in the centre of town there are some great places. All city centres have their boozed up Idiots but there are some nice places in York it can just be a case of finding them down all the ally ways.
Sure you will have a great time. |

Bettys gets really busy with people willing to queue for ages. If you don't want to queue there is another bettys cafe above the shop on stonegate or try mannions on Blake st.
If you fancy the yorvik museum (it's worth it) book either online or over the phone. You'll get a timed ticket and won't have to join the queue that snakes round and can take two hours to get to the front of.
On a sunny day pick up a selection of food from somewhere like mannions and head to the museum gardens where you can always find some peace. As well as the museum there are the Abby ruins, a Roman fortress, the observatory and a couple of other historical buildings. And of course the botanical gardens.
Walking the walls can be good too, just check a map first because there are some long stretches with great views and also some fragments where you'll have to keep going down and back up.
If you are so inclined the best way to enjoy the Minster is by attending evensong.
The guy fawkes inn does great meals. Bennett's cafe next to the Minster becomes a bistro in the evenings and does very good reasonably priced food.
And if it rains head for the city art gallery. |

Oh, and Cliffords tower is good on a clear day for a good view but otherwise there's not a lot up there.
Small children like rolling down the mound, just watch out for the car park traffic at the bottom. |

"Hahahahaha will make a point of stopping my buddy from rollimg down the hill...he's a naughty 50 year old! "
You don't need to stop him - don't be a spoilsport! Just make sure he doesn't roll off the hill and in front of traffic. |

"tempting devil are you telling me you would not kiss me better if I got hurt by a car??
Damn straight!
Tempting, yes, devilish, certainly, nice? Nah, that's not usually said about me. "
Hahaha and I'd step over you and go about my day! Maybe even rifle through your pockets! Only joking babe... I'd kiss ya first. |
