"We will be suitably dressed! More in to the clothing than the music to be fair but we like some of it"
Umm most 'real' Goths can generally turn up in Whitby 'suitably' dressed anytime. It's not a costume, it's who they are, a lifestyle. Not some Cosplay they discard after Halloween. What they did in Whitby was an extension of what they do in thier home city/town/village. Can the vast majority of the 'parade' say they would have the balls to do it outside Whitby?
A lot of us had abuse and discrimination for our lifestyle choice and its condescending when people try and be something they aren't for the weekend. Especially 'I love your costume'. |

Wow, now this as well. Not sure what we've done to upset you really? It's our first time going and everyone had a first time they went there.
Imagine if you had a someone telling you that you weren't a "real goth" the first time you started to show an interest? It would probably put you off
Both of us have an interest in all different aspects so what better place to explore that more? Oh no, sorry, you guys can't come in because some random person on the internet has been ranting about people who aren't "proper goths"
With that sort of attitude the scene will eventually die off as there's no young people.
And we're both "alternative" which is a very inclusive community, due to the abuse you get from people just from dressing a certain way or listening to certain music
Hopefully there are some "proper goths" there who are a bit more welcoming to new people otherwise we'll have a miserable old time |
