A few days in the lakes this weekend can anyone recommend anywhere in general, we've been told there isn't any specific places to meet others into the lifestyle so just good atmosphere will do.

Bowness is the hub where all the passenger boats sail from to different parts of the Lake (Windermere)

Ambleside, Keswick good for shops...depends on where in the Lakes you are staying.
