Use to enjoy Glastonbury, last time went was 1985 n it pissed down all weekend n it was the biggest event so far with 50,000 attending.
Stopped going, started to become a bit of a middle class thing.
Lost it appeal of being music, drink n drugs n stated to become a trendy place for the middle classes to go. |

"We are going. Working as well as partying "
Just booked off that weekend in work so hoping to be doing security there, perhaps with a cheeky bit of partying thrown in for good measure too |

EXACTLY THIS !!!! Don’t make ANY concrete plans because then you’ve lost the whole vibe of the event straight away !!! See you for that cider - I’m currently a fan of the Cheddar Valley to be found in a small stand in Williams Green. Cannot wait !! |

This summer will be my fourth Glastonbury but to be honest I think the line up is a bit shite, especially when it’s the 50th anniversary of the festival but after waiting for two years, you are not exactly going to give up on a ticket!
I hope to be checking out a lot of the smaller stages as I thinks few of the headline acts are possibly well past their prime. |

Couldn’t agree more. I’m never really too concerned about the line-up. It’s ALL the other stuff that makes up hut such a great 5 days. Block 9, NYC Downlow - in fact the whole of the naughty corner’ is just so much fun !! |

The best advice I ever got from one of these threads was to head to the tree in the Pyramid field on Thursday afternoon. I can’t remember what it’s called but everyone takes drinks, especially vodka and it’s a great afternoon. |

Seem to remember hearing that Block 9/ NYC downlow has a cruise area called “the meat packing district”? Can anyone confirm if that’s the case, as it might offer some people the chance of some naughty play time during the festival.
Not sure how that might be work with so many thousands of people camping out for a week….. but then I have seen a couple fucking in one of the notoriously grim long drop open toilets on a Sunday night at Glastonbury…… you never know what might happen when you’re in full party mode and expanding your mind for a week! |

Ha ha. Love a long drop !!! The clanging sound of the doors is iconic !! I’m currently in the Maldives and have an outdoor bathroom - very similar right !!!! (Plus champagne at breakfast is also similar to warm cider, yes ??!! ) |

only 44 sleeps guys!!
getting excited haven't been since 2015
best advice i was given the first time i went was not to over plan it. just pick a few bands that you really want to see over the weekend and make sure you see them.
after that just wander enjoy and explore.
saw so much that i wouldn't have expected to and met so many wonderful people
hope it will be the same this time

You’ll have a ball. My best advice is have no pre-expectations, and no real plans. Just go with the glow, explore loads, and you’ll have one of the best weeks if your life ! |

Or has anyone been before and have any thoughts on it ?

Yeah - I have a very ‘congested’ Friday! Shame, but I probably won’t get to see any of them because I’ll be transfixed by some Morris Dancing at the Bandstand instead !!! |

This will be my 12th Glastonbury, but the first time ive taken the coach, anyone done it before? Having to get others who are driving to take our booze down for us as you cant take it on the coach. Every year people will say the line up isnt strong or not good enough, if youve been then you know the line up and the main stages make up about 15% of the festival there's so much more. Best place on earth cant wait to get back there. |

only been once in 2015 and didnt see any of the headliners on the main stage. can always watch them back on iplayer when you get home. leaving you the other 85% to explore |

My 12th time too! Done it by coach once before, it was easy getting in and out and so nice not to have to drive home after all the drinking and too little sleep. |

"Can't wait. Never been before, my partner would be his 2nd visit
What is the naughty corner and the pink umbrella? "
The “the south-east corner” or by widespread Glastonbury nickname “the naughty corner” s the cluster of late-night party areas consisting ofThe Unfairground, The Common, Shangri-La, NYC Downlow, icon and Block nine… it’s the late night area that you won’t have seen on the BBC coverage of the bigger stages… it’s a place full of anarchy and mostly dance music…. Make sure you have your party head on if you venture down there…. It can get a little bit wonky after dark down there…. Just like up in the stone circle, Who knows or really cares?
The pink umbrella is I believe a bit gathering of people by an oak tree on the pyramid stage field on the Thursday afternoon called The World Famous Thursday Piss Up or TWFTPU for short….. most people bring a pink umbrella and some vodka.
You can Google all this though an I advise that you do a little bit of research as the site is mind blowingly huge, I’ve heard people compare it to a small town as the site covers an area of around 900 acres.
As anyone who’s been before will tell you, there’s so much more to Glastonbury than what you might of seen on the television coverage…. That barely scratch’s the surface of what will go on in them fields in thirteen days time. |
