Wow,
Don't know how this has slipped through the net as its very, very valid to many on here.
Im lucky, I can boast I have arguably the best Dom for me and as a result I'm the best bratty subby he could wish for. I am still in training but I think im doing well.
I think people fail to realise how quick / easily things can go wrong. They recognise the danger element and that's part of the turn on but don't have the knowledge or foresight to understand why things are done a specific way and the reasons behind it.
Just because you are interested in becoming a Dom doesn't make you one , in the same way as if I buy a stethoscope it doesn't automatically make me a Dr.
