Sorry to hear that your feeling this way...not nice...do you feel you can't talk to your family or friends or more you don't want to? I have close friends that have taken their lives due to Mental Health...so sad. Have you thought about taking some time off work? either using holidays or time off sick? Life can feel like been stuck in a rut...work/home/eat/sleep/repeat...Have you tried anti depressants before? when you try the right ones they can be help full to take the edge off. If you need to chat there's the Samaritans or log on here to escape reality..your welcome to in box me, chat about anything from sports to shite in the news. Talking does help and you've made a big move posting this so well done.

For me I have found it quite helpful making time for others, phone calls, shoping or cooking for others. I found one neighbour that has not coped well during this and put a strong focus on being a shoulder when they need one. I find this has helped me greatly in return. I also do plenty of gardening and wanking

Serendipity

Have you tried mindfulness , you’ll find some online resources for it. I know we’ve got a community group in my area that have been running free mindfulness sessions via an online platform for free due to the impact of lockdown. There may be something similar in your area.

As a Mental health first aider I would recommend firstly to be kind and make time for yourself.

Do something light that helps you unwind, exercise helps and try and get good sleep.

Cutting out caffeine, alcohol and been on technology before bed and all that jazz.

I know it sounds mad but something simple like going for a walk in the fresh air every evening can really help.

It's all about keeping distracted from the negatives and focusing on the positives

Be good to yourself

No advice to add OP, apart from speak to a professional but everyone says that.

I truly do hope that things improve for you though!

Look up your local men's den...through connection our minds can shift gear and revisit previous ways of coping. With everything that's happened over the past year or so it's little wonder folk are wobbling...

I’ve been where you are an at rock bottom to the point of trying to take my own life, feeling like that is so hard and it’s even harder to talk about how you’re feeling so well done you for opening up, that’s the first step. Contacting your gp would be a good option, they don’t just give you pills (but they can), they can also refer you for other services and they have some great people on hand who can really help. I always found it easier to talk to someone who I wasn’t connected to rather than family/friends. My inbox is always open if you need a chat. I have been on anti depressants for a number of years now and I truly believe if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be here now so don’t rule them out but there are plenty of other things like CBT etc that you can try first before meds.

As for work, could you speak to your boss or hr to have your hours reduced even if just temporarily to give you some time to yourself?

I wish you all the best and like I said opening up is the first step. Just remember things will get better no matter how hard it seems now xx

Hope you are still doing ok.

Chatting to strangers on the internet can help some people.

For others they feel a burden and stop chatting because they don't want to get the other person down.

My best mate since early childhood is a senior GP and partner at a practice, and has gone through some v low points. So I have some familiarity with this as well as support available. I have other friends who suffer the big D, so have complete empathy for your situation.

Talking therapy support; which you can hopefully obtain via speaking to you GP. There are mental health trust who have broad teams of specialists and disciplines (different types of therapies) which can help you tackle deeper routed issues and could help support you and aid you to take measures to hopefully to overcome your current problems, one step at a time.

Medication; is First line treatment, granted you may not be a fan, allot of people are not, and will find not all medication suitable/effective as this can be very specific to the person and their issues and body Chemistry. It's expected.

It's a case of putting you on a trial of a particular type and see if that helps to bring about some positive affects. I known people to have tried 8 different types until they have found a drug that works for them. The way to look at medication is that it can give you breathing space so that the additional support available, can be explored (like the talking therapy).

Trying to soldier on and tough it out, I can't recommend believe you me, especially if you are in a v turbulent phase already. Sometimes you just have to let people with the right background help you through this period of instability. And an independent voice who is trained to help you manage things in a way that friends and family cannot do, for various reasons, and with no judgments.

I really hope you will be ok, and things can get to a better phase soon, sometimes we need that additional time and support. best wishes.

Also there is a charity Remploy (google it) which provides free advice and support for those with Mental Health challenges, who's working situation is a contributing factor.

"Our specialist advisers provide:

Tailored work-focused mental health support for nine months

Suitable coping strategies

A support plan to keep them in, or return to work

Ideas for workplace adjustments to help them fulfill their role

Practical advice to support those with a mental health condition."

"To be eligible for this service, individuals need to be in permanent or temporary employment and have a mental health condition (diagnosed or undiagnosed) that has resulted in workplace absence, or is causing difficulties to remain in work."
