Luxor is great but use a tour company, Pyramids are well worth a visit, just be aware that it's very commercialised now, again a reputable tour guide is the best way forward, I personally would not recommend going into Cairo alone unless you know the city its extremely busy and can make you feel vulnerable, although the Egyptian people are very friendly towards westerners but again they will try to scam you at every opportunity. |

Thanks.
I saw some day trips to the pyramids, but its a 6 hour bus trip each way. Not sure I fancy that through the desert. Especially in the summer heat.
Any tour operators you recommend for the day trips? |

Unfortunately I don't I live mainly in Cairo and my work does take me all over Egypt but I have very little contact with the tourist industry.
You Hotel will have a list and will probably organise trips.
On entering Egypt you will need to get a visa, it's dead straight forward, get it at the airport there are plenty of kiosks and banks in the arrival area, get this first before anything else.
If you or your partner are on medication it's extremely important you check that none of these are any form of opioid, if you are unsure check, as you must have a medical certificate to show the authorities if required.
Please don't overlook the medication bit all the airports are now screening your bags at the airport exits. |
