Anyone have any recommendations of places or food?

Having driven around most of the island I'd say that we liked it up around Jaffna most as there were far fewer tourists but then we're probably not normal!
Ella was not bad but again lots of tourists.
Probably depends mostly what your interests are. |

"Check out Unawatuna beach, great bars and hotels, you must try a kothu too, enjoy the lion lagers as well."
Nice. I was debating unwatuna - as id go purely because the name sounds funny - will go after mirissa |

Been a couple of times. Not keen on Kandy and Colombo traffic is horrendous. Love Dambulla Temple, we stayed at Heritance Kandalama nearby. This time (last July) went on two safaris and finally saw a leopard. That was down in the south east. I have a delicate tummy, so have to be careful what and where I eat. Galle was interesting. There was a guy diving off a cliff into quite shallow water there! |

In 2016 we went over to the east coast Trincomalee region. I cocked up with the accommodation, it wasn’t up to scratch and we had bad tums. Be nice to go back and stay in a better hotel. Good swimming beaches over that side too. I love Sri Lanka and the people are very peaceful and humble. |
