We're off on holiday tomorrow. One week in Iceland and we've rented a car. Anyone got any tour recommendations or sights to see/things to do? X
Is there a swinging scene? |

"Random fact for you before you go it's illegal to masturbate in Iceland!!! Not sure about the rules in farm foods tho"
We are also thinking of going but in November.
Was disappointed to see that they don't allow nudity in the thermal pools and the swinging question was interesting.
Then...Doh! |

Greater Manchester |
If you want to save money on booze, which is hideously expensive (although most bars have a happy hour which is a bit more reasonable), stock up on duty free as you arrive at the airport, where prices are similar to here. |

"All booked for November.
Might get to the Northern Lights, fingers crossed. "
Have a fantastic time, I went to Iceland this time last year, stopped in the capital. Have said if I went back I would hire a car.
Because of cloud cover I didnt get to see the Northern Lights but had a great holiday none the less. |

There's an organised tour that has contacted us saying on their tour if the weather is bad either they refund your fee or gives you another tour for free |

Fifty six quid each to swim in the blue lagoon!!
Cheap it ain't but it's our thirtieth wedding anniversary so it's something special. |

How was the trip? Any recommendations besides the blue lagoon? I'm heading there on Friday for a bit over a week.

"Are you stopping in Reykjavik?
I can't speak about the penis museum but speak highly about the rest of the city... it's a great place!"
Yes near the marina. I read that the museum is rubbish but I'm going with someone who's a total prude so may have to go just to wind them up |

We saw the Northern Lights from a boat out of Reykjavik harbour, they were brilliant.
A green streak that developed into a waving, dancing line with cherry red in.
Also managed two nude dips in out of tourist way geothermal pools.

Hi
I`m coming out to Reykjavik on 25th staying at the Hotel Klopp so would love to meet up if it`s convenient. I`m there for 3 days to see the Northern Lights, whale watching and a trip to the penis museum. The Blue Lagoon would be great too provided there is time.

Hi, we are heading to Iceland on the 31st for a week. Would be good if you could message us with where the pools were to go for a nude dip.

One of the biggest let downs ever.
I'd rather go to the lakes or the Highlands and save my money.
Boring, expensive and very drab and soul destroying place. |

In what way did you find it boring?.
Reykjavik was interesting with some nice pubs and interesting buildings.
We hired a Jeep and swam in the pool at Vic and found some quiet geothermal pools to skinny dip in.
Everyone we met were friendly and talkative.
The scenery around Pinhvellir National Park blew us away.
We found it a magical beautiful place and will definitely be back.
Each to their own I suppose. |

We just thought it was all hype to get tourists to their small country.
There are much more interesting and beautiful places in this country.
We didn't feel there was anything outstanding in the slightest, maybe for their country it's great, but in the big scheme of things it's a very normal unassuming place, it's only because it 'Iceland' that people think it's interesting. |

on the road to nowhere in particular |
Let’s face it, the Lake District is full of geysers, hot springs and lava and the northern lights are an everyday occurrence in southeast England.
I found Iceland fascinating |

The lakes are in the north west.
Don't get me wrong, Iceland has all that's mentioned, but it's all very small! The waterfalls are pretty tame, the scenery is very bland in comparison to the Highlands and the lakes.
The blue lagoon is a heated lido next to a power station... Although it is nice for half an hour... The geysers are nothing to write home about after the 2 hour bus trip! The northern lights are great no matter where you see them.
We were really excited to go to Iceland, but the actual experience was a great let down and when people ask we say it like it is, expensive and nothing special. The Icelandic tourist board to a fantastic job of promoting their country with what little it has going for it! They Dont seem to mention the highest national suicide rate |

My wife and I are off on Wednesday morning for 4 nights. I’m looking forward to it as I’m a photographer and craft beer drinker, bothof which are well catered for. |

We have been to Iceland, although flying from the gruesome Manchester is expensive, it was worth it when we got there, beautiful country but boy oh boy it's pricey! Be prepared to pay a lot of money for drinks/eating out, although the Blue Lagoon is awesome, that is expensive too?
Iceland is fantastic, but it's not a cheap place, so having good reserves of cash is advisable? |

I remember the Icelanders had whale and puffin on the menu back in November 2017! The highlight of the trip were the notoriously difficult to predict Northern Lights but utterly unmissable. I enjoyed the Penis Museum and later saw the Vagina Museum when it opened in London. |
