This has been covered in others threads but I like insomnia which is well linked into the public transport network which like London has a night bus network. But no 24 ubahn(tube) or Sbahn (overground) however the ticket machines only take €5 & €10 notes and it pays to buy a travelpass/Berlin pass for the period of your stay.
Both airports have very good link's into the city.
