I shall be there from mid Dec to 1st week in Jan. Look for the guy on the beach at candolim/calangute. Sprawled out on the sunbed, two fishing rods, large beer trying to hold his stomach in. Come say "hi" I see you have got your tackle with you lol |

I used to use the Bob marley (Candolim end of beach) but I believe it has changed now. Will have to look for another shack that has sunbeds near the waters edge. Usually candolim end cos there is not so many swimmers. calangute and Baga end I usually hook a couple of Russians or Polish when fishing |

"Kerala - do the back waters / house boat from Allepi
Goa - personally prefer south - but party area is north "
Yes been looking at house boats
Will look at allepi tonight thanks for the info.
Wanted to do both sides of goa as just over three weeks
Would you fly from goa south or take the train? |

Yes I have traveled on the train in Thailand and loved the experience.
Had a quick look and seems there is a over night train just wanted to hear thoughts on it but defiantly up for the experience.
Going to sit down at the weekend and do some more homework as it's a bit of a last minute idea so any input from anyone would be great full |

I suggest you take a train to Goa - it's a shorter distance than a train to Kerala.
I won't travel on a train anymore - the ticketing system annoys me - your ticket isn't confirmed until on the day or something. Plus, on the overnight train, I had a snorer in my first class cabin. |

Train travel in India is good overnight don't expect too much sleep as people get on and off and even first class compartments can be shared with as someone snoring people or smelly feet on them talking in their phones all night ..
when I last booked you could only get the booking only a month in advance no earlier and you had to be quick as the best classes and dates go fast.... all the tour operators have to buy the tickets for their customers

Thanks for the heads up on the ticketing
Yes was not expecting virgin first class travel and also traveled on overnight trains in Asia so I am not put off by that and makes the journey more memorable.
