I'm treating Mr to a dirty weekend in Amsterdam for his birthday. Anyone got any tips on places to stay? Fairly cheap but nice hotels please, not keen on hostels.

Also, any swinging clubs worth a visit?

I stayed in the Ibis hotel, it's a well known chain, clean, reasonable price and had room for two in the shower

Stayed in holiday inn in slotterdac it was three stops from the centre of Amsterdam on a train.

Thanks I'll have a look at that one too. Mr has been to Amsterdam before but this is my first time so I'm hoping to get it right lol x

If I remember correctly there was two ibis hotels 1 around 5 mins walk from red light district and the other just over 10mins.

Central

There's an ibis next to centraal station, 5-10 mins from red light and a few other accord chain hotels that ibis is part of.

Hotel prices rocket if big conventions are on, so choose dates accordingly.

There's an Inntel hotels hotel I've stayed at between the station and Dam Square - decent enough and great spot.

A few older threads on swinging spots and stuff to do.

Clubwise check "Showboat" which is in Zaandijk. Decent club but to get there and especially back after midnight might be a bit of a stretch as it's a bit out of the city. Also check out something called "Sameplace". Thats fairly central Amsterdam but more of an erotic cafe than a club. Personally never been but from what i've heard it's a decent vibe.
