we try to do a winter city break every year and we are pondering on either prague or Krakow, we are not wanting it to be an out and out swinging break! has anyone got any recomendations on either of these two breaks? |

we are more than open to suggestions to other places tina! we didn't think we would be having a city break this year as we have just been to fuertaventura for our friends wedding but we stayed well inside our budget and feel the need for our annual 2 nighter without the kids |

Titz Towers, North Notts |
I've only ever been to Wales, Scotland and Amsterdam, so I'm not that well travelled, but places like Bratislava, Brno and Ljubiana are a little bit different. I suppose it all depends if you want to be out having a rave, or a romantic time, or seeing a stately palace |

we like sightseeing, history and local food in the day, and socialising, people watching and adult fun at night, so we really have got to get out of Rotherham at least once a month |

Been to both loved krakow but Prague was so much more it had everything you wanted in two days you will not get round everything not even close the astronomical clock the museum of communism with McD s next door for irony. The bridges the castle Wenceslas square amazing the sex museum is worth a visit the Jewish quarter. We went to a small village by train to sedlec to the bone church amazing a whole church completely decorated with the bones of the dead look up on line . The food and nightlife are great the transport system is amazing and if you go back one or two streets from the main drag the prices of food and drink drop quite a bit you will only scratch at the surface in two days and will want to go back right away plus they are the best looking people I have ever saw |

We had great break in Krakow earlier this year -- great food and drink places near the main square!
Lots of cultural places to visit too and people all very friendly! |

Prague and New York |
We are from Prague, so we vote for Prague.
But if money are issue, then you can check Bratislava.
Flight cost only 50% of flight to Prague or Vienna. Hotels and food is little cheaper as well.
Its nice place for one or 1.5 day.
Second day you can make day trip to Vienna. Its only 1 hour by bus or train (for some 5 GBP) or take boat one way.
Then back bus from Vienna is going directly to Bratislava Airport. |

Been to krakow Prague and Brno. Loved all of them. Prague Christmas markets are much better than krakow if that floats your boat. Brno is the cheapest place when there. All have major plus points. If you go to krakow go to auschwitz. The most humbling and moving experience I have ever had in my life. Puts the world into perspective. I am going to prague again 28/30 nov. I have stayed I. The same hotel three times now. Near centre clean and good value. |
