Gran Canaria, Come Back Bar

We have had many a good night at this bar, but some what concerned about the way the bar is being run. Profit is the name of the game and watered down drinks is there aim. Have an open mind....lol but give the Vodka a miss.

We go again in three weeks and will be going to the Miaw bar across from the Fun4All instead of starting the nights in the Comeback Bar.
Nothing to do with prices etc. we just feel more comfortable in there  |

Tried miaow miaow last time we were there and that was good too! Will give them both a go! More about the people than the place anyway and I know we will be in good company! |

We stay in Gran Canaria twice a year, off again 29th April and have to say always been disappointed by the comeback bar. Thought perhaps we are just a pair of boring old farts. |

We were in the Comeback bar last night, it wasn't very busy but friendly. We can't comment on the weak spirits as we drink wine and beer, but would agree that prices are top end for a bar.
We have also been in Miow (however you spell it) and it is good, as is the German Dreamtime bar, and the Bude 4 in La Sandia.
All seem a bit quiet at the moment as are the clubs, we've only seen any numbers (and action)in 2x2.

we are thinking of having a couple of weeks in GC at the end of May and have been watching reports about the area and it would seem that from what is now being said the Comeback bar is really a place to avoid because of prices and watered down drinks. Going to have a rethink now |

hi we where there in november and we agree very expensive in the comeback bar, also found it very quiet there unless they sort it out it will only get worse we wont be returning there at them prices shame really.jimanddawn |

Hi we have been to pdi quite a few times and always visit the Come back bar.We have never had any problems with anything and it is usually always quite busy. |

At times i think people need to stop being sheep, just because this bar has been good in the past, times change. Bad service, weak drinks,over priced tent and takes an age to pay your bill making the place look full at times. When in fact people want to move on.
If your looking for a drink and a chat in a proper bar with good friendly bar staff, followed by some sexy fun, we suggest Bar Miow (basement) in Cita then a five minute walk to Sandia shopping center and club 2x2. hope you all have fun....we have for the last three weeks...x  |

It's the same with all the clubs/bars on the Island. Try them all and make your own judgement, we all have different tastes. We only now go into 2x2 club which suits us and we met some lovely people in there in the last 2 weeks. Funlovers!   |

We were there in February and found the come back bar to be ok.we had been told it was expensive but didn't think it was much different to uk prices.
We also used meaw bar which was very nice and a little cheaper. We started in comeback bar then meaw bar then on to a club |

We have been going there for years and comeback bar is always our starter place for meeting people.....I think drinks are expensive in most of the clubs to be honest...compared to yumbo where we like our cheap strong cocktails
Its all about choice
We like different clubs/bars for different reasons despite the prices
Its more about the people who are there and we met some gorgeous people this time round (thanx _amiss)
We will still be going in same places in June

We have been going to gran canaria for 12 years,2/3 times a year, yes we know all the bars clubs and everyone that runs/or own them, comeback they have the image for swingers to meet , but are now taking the mick out of people with there week drinks, clever attitude ,its just a smile on a false face, and yes i know what I'm taking about. seen it done that got the t shirt.
While there for the last 2 weeks i have chatted with most of the regular couples except one rude one who ask me about the catarena hotel for weeks , then never had the politeness to say hi or thanks.
If you want posh, and you can afford it go to the sandy beach hotel.
The miow is the new bar to meet cita lower floor.2x2 is more for couples that want to play and not look like they do,,

We agree with "EXTRA" have been here for the last 3 weeks and can see where the so called meeting bar has been taking the p**s for so many years.
Blind people who dress up as poodles and pretend to be experts and only go to two places, need to go back in the sheep pen.
Stop giving out the wrong advise.
Please read the forum, make your own mind up, and if good post it.
We love the place, hope you do.

we went to comeback bar last sept and was served out of date bottles of cider and didnt seem to bother them when we complained and same happened again two weeks ago served out of date cider and also at end of evening when we asked for our bill they tried to charge us 47 euros when we had actually spent 23 euros so keep an eye on what you are actually drinking and what youre getting charged for.may pop in for the one drink but will spend mostly in miaow bar. |

Thx _unlovers I saw the pics of the jacuzzi, sauna and play area and thought it would suit me. Is there an admission fee?. There is nothing on the website about it. |

For all the slating of The Comeback bar we personally have never suspected nor consumed what we consider to be "watered down" drinks. Whilst we agree its not the cheapest bar in which to drink it serves its purpose in providing a focal point for likeminded people to meet and socialize. Have any of the people with issues spoken to Martin or Gerry and voiced their concerns over the strength of the drinks? We would be interested to hear of those that have and what the reply was.
Personally we would miss The Comeback if it wasn't there, where else is there that is similar? Miaow Bar is up and running, and a nice bar it is too but the question is are they capable of surviving the summer season which is a notoriously quiet time in Gran Canaria for the swinging tourist. We hope it does, competition is healthy and who knows, come winter time The Comeback may have lowered their prices to compete.

We agree with Ben & Lisa, we have always had a nice time at the Comeback bar, it has a nice atmosphere and the guys that run it do everything to keep their guests happy, shame it seems to be getting so much bad press here, we were there in November and it was the same as it always has been, so unless it has changed dramatically since then don't let the adverse comments above put you off and go make your own mind up.

We think the Cap d'Agde comparison is a bit unfair, we could have gone the other way and compared it to say Benidorm, which would be just as equally unfair.
We don't think that the prices at the Comeback are terribly expensive, but for a basic "Spanish" drinking bar they are certainly at the top end.
France is generally a much more expensive country than Spain and at Cap d'Agde in bars like the Melrose prices are certainly higher, but there is also a big difference between the two bars.
However, sticking to the Gran Canary/Cap d'Agde comparison you could compare the Comeback to Jonny Wokkers. Both are very similar bars, one in an expensive country, the other on a duty free island, and we think the prices are very close to each other. If anything Wokkers is probably cheaper.

To be honest we have never really taken any notice of the prices in comeback, we're on holiday!
I thought a small beer there was about 2.50 which I guess it expensive for GC but the guys have to make there money somehow, they really only have 2 and a half hours, 10 - 12.30.
Anything to do with swinging is expensive, the clubs are much more expensive than other clubs or bars in GC, La Mirage is 72 a night, you can get self catering in GC for 17, so I guess it goes with swinging.
We think the Comeback is a very nice little cocktail bar, well run and a nice atmosphere, all I would say to people reading this is go and find out for yourself.
Miaow is also a nice bar and a nice couple that run it, the more places to go the better. |
