Hope that the volcanoes have quiten down, I work there for 3 months 15yrs ago a managed some sight seeing as well as swimming in the blue lagoon, hope all work out

Take plenty of snacks. Food is so expensive and not very good.
If you wanna see the Northern Lights, rather than paying for an expensive tour, just drive to the end of the road at Saltjarness, there is no light pollution, you’ll see the crowds, from memory, it’s only 15-20 minutes drive from Reykjavík, so you can go each evening and if there a few days you can guarantee you will see them usually.
