GC Dunes on German TV

Costa Blanca Spain...

Just watched a special report on RTL here in Germany. They did a secret filming in Maspalomas dunes by plonking a naked woman on a towel and waiting to see what happens.

Needless to say she got a lot of attention from the Meercats and although there were lots of blured out bits it didn't leave much to the imagination.

They tried to make it into a "shock horror" report and interviewed various people to make out that it is a "family beach"

Attention like this is the last thing we need only six weeks from our trip, but anyone going in the next few weeks should be careful.

Let's be brutally honest here...... Some of the behaviour in the Dunes is completely unacceptable. Our son has been startled by a guy wanking quite openly on a normal part of the beach.

It is illegal to undertake in public sex acts anywhere in the world and especially where people regularly walk, roam and play. I am sorry if you don't like this, but I personally think the place needs a big clean up because it has gone too far.

Agree with the above, we had a walk thro the Dunes at GC when we were there 2 years ago. Wouldn't play there, felt so seedy !! And we're regulars at Cap who play on the beach with no worries !!!

Costa Blanca Spain...

We fully appreciate the other comments, but we were under the assumption that the "swingers area" of the dunes was well off the beaten track, with lots of available camouflage and nowhere near a family beach.

We only managed to catch the second half of the TV report after a friend phoned us to switch on quickly. In the part we saw RTL's woman sat alone and naked on a towel in a wide open area of sand (no bushes anywhere near) and was approached by quite a few single guys most of them obviously wanking, but we felt that the whole report had a sensationalist slant to it.

After reading a lot of comments on the German site we use it seems that someone called Brenda or Branda from "Bude 4" collaborated with RTL. Maybe some on here know her.

We regularly go to Cap d'Agde and love the beach action there and was hoping for something similar, albeit smaller scale and not beach front.

This report will almost certainly be seen by the local authorities in GC so as we said in the original post people should be a bit careful there from now on.

The authorities are fully aware what goes on......anyone who has been stalked and followed by the uniformed Policeman on his quad bike will vouch for that.

His major advantage is he isnt scurrying around hunting for couples, hes driving around hunting for couples so gets there much faster!

That is when he isnt parked at Kiosk 4 eyeing up the naked sunbathers of course

And noisier

Must admit though that constantly looking and listening for a copper on a quad bike doesn't do much for the libido.

Methinks it might be better hanging around the pool at La Mirage.

The authorities are fully aware of the swinging area in the dunes which is well away from the family beach.

The Police are in the Dunes to deter photography and the occasional bag thieves that all dune areas suffer from yes even Cap suffers we had our bags stolen in France.

We think rather too much is being made of a German TV program that we doubt the GC authorities will have taken any interest in.

The pool area at La Mirage is very good and you could certainly enjoy the whole of your holiday there but to be put off from going to the Dunes because of a silly German TV program seems to be over reacting slightly.

To be honest it wont put us off going to the dunes, but it will certainly make us a bit more careful when picking a spot. As a swinger going to GC and missing the dunes would be like going to Paris and not seeing the Eiffel tower.

We are also looking forward to a day or two around the pool at La Mirage as well.

We've now seen the RTL report in full and your description "silly" seems about right, although we would add "sensationalist" It has however started quite a big (and sometimes heated) debate on the German site we use.

@ sensual & sexy.

What are your dates? we are there from 17th-26th march

We haven't seen the offending broadcast but in our experience the couples who play in the dunes at Gran Canaria do so discreetly finding a nice private area with some foliage cover.

Lets hope RTL never do the same idea with Cap d'Agde, because if people think what happens in the dunes of Maspalomas is unacceptable, then Cap d'Agde would be a real eye opener

Hull

We have not seen the program and have only been to Gran Canaria once (but going again in two weeks!!).

Talk of "The Dunes" may be a bit misleading to people who have not been before if our memory is correct.

We remember "The Dunes" as forming a headland with Playa Inglis at one side and Maspalomas at the other. We walked along the waters edge from one side to other naked (quite a distance) and didn't feel at all uncomfortable. A lot of other people were naked too but also a lot were dressed. We also walked back to Playa Inglis straight across the almost deserted sand dunes (bloody hard work LOL)

On our second visit we put our towels down near the famous "Kiosk 4". We sunbathed naked all day, went swimming and had a lovely day surrounded by other naturists, mainly German by the sound of them. On that part ot the beach we saw no sexual activity or lurking males and we have been to Cap many times and know what a day on Couples beach is like. The only people having a sneaky look at the naked bodies were those who were dressed and probably wishing they had the nerve to get their kit off.

Walking inland just a few yards from Kiosk 4 we could see a fairly big and flat area of sand, behind that an area of scrub and bushes and then the buildings of Maspalomas.

We assume it is in the bushes where the "fun" takes place. If this is so then it is an easy place to find if that is what you are looking for but also an easy place to avoid if not.

We did see Police patrolling the beach and if they went in the bushes it was too far away for us to see. Maybe some days the fun takes place nearer the beach. We guess it depends who is there.

One thing is certain we will be having a better look in two weeks
