We stayed at the Riu Palace Boa Vista at the end of January and we saw one lady sunbathing topless. It’s definitely not a “thing” but doesn’t seem frowned upon either. To be fair she did keep herself quite secluded lol. |

Seen the odd few topless ,same as anywhere else ,both on beach and around poolside ,lots of beautiful stretches of sand away from hotels to do it privately ,but use plenty sun screen even if it seems cloudy |

The beaches are stunning. Soft golden sand and sand dunes. We were at Riu palace Boa Vista but are looking at Riu palace Sal for Xmas. The sea is rough in Boa Vista and generally not advisable for swimming but I’m not sure if Sal is calmer - someone who has been there can advise.

Sal beaches are lovely, the sea can be a bit choppy but a couple of areas seem OK.. the pier area of Santa Maria and near Bikini beach bar are generally calm enough for a dip. |

"Can you sunbath topless?"
Not so many do it but yes you can. My wife sunbathes topless there all the time on the beach and by the pool. We usually go to Boa Vista but she has also sunbathed topless on Sal. If you are a little nervous about it pick a spot on the beach or by the pool where it is a little quieter. We are sure that you will see some other women sunbathing topless. Enjoy Cape Verde.
