Morning all,

Ok so I’m a type one diabetic and wear 2 different devices attached to my body. One (my insulin pump) I can remove leaving a small port, the other I can’t. It’s on my inner upper arm, it’s maybe the size of a matchbox and stuck down with coloured sports tape.

It’s just occurred to me that this could be a shock to anyone who doesn’t know me.

So my question is- how do I manage this? Tell them beforehand? Send photos? Not say and just deal with it at the time?

Thanks

Just be honest, any person who wants to meet you and/or get to know you won't have an issue with it.

It doesn't define you x

No it really doesn’t, I’m quite blasé about it but I can understand that others may not be

I have frequently seen women with blood sugar sensors etc taped or left uncovered. I think it's not an issue really and best dealt with at the time .

When you know you want to take it further with someone just be up front about it.

If they can't put on there big girl / big boy pants and see past it then it's their loss.

This is exactly it, with a little extra gadget attached so it feeds the data to my watch and alarms if my sugars are low/ high or changing rapidly.

Thank you

Dublin and London

I would deal with it at the time. For me it wouldn't matter one bit.
