I genuinely think it comes down to chemistry and being with the right person, when everything is right yes I think I am and have been told so on occasion, but if one or both partners isn't quite right then no i can be discombobulated fumbly and pretty much useless at it.

Absolutely honest answer, if we're talking purely penetrative sex (as suggested in the OP) then I'm distinctly below average most of the time, but it's partly down to connection and chemistry (as has been suggested), partly down to confidence and being relaxed etc and other factors too.
But for me sex is majorly about the whole package, not just a single aspect of it, and if we're talking the whole package, then my self-perception changes completely as I know I'm open minded, uninhibited, respectful, considerate, take pleasure from giving pleasure, like to go with the flow and various other qualities that all add up to a good time for all concerned.
