When we were first married we had the Forum magazine, tried using the contact ads in the back, which took ages; first write letter to intended contact, add photo, put in envelope, put in other envelope to Forum mag with stamps adding up to so much and a stamped addressed envelope to ourselves. Then wait on the royal mail for 6 weeks or more . . .
Once we actually met a couple from this rigmarole, walked into the pub, she took one look up and down Jane and they walked out ! We never found out what we did wrong ! ?

When we first started swinging the internet was at its infancy in peoples homes.We used to buy adult mags and joined a site called 'Club Aphrodite' had to post an ad in their newsletter then pay to listen to any responses,however we did visit our first swingers party from a recommendation from that 'newsletter' bloody hard work though ! |

I started on the phone lines. Connexions I think, was 0845 for ladies but 0906 for men (of course ), and was advertised in the back of Cosmo magazine. I met two lovely gentlemen who introduced me to various clubs and parties and I was hooked.
I did go back on last year and it was still being used, but I've tried looking it up recently and it seems to have gone. |

I think it used to be mainly at parties. Swingers would all turn up, throw their car keys into a bowl, then blindfolded they'd pick a key and whosever keys you got, that's who you went off with whilst your partner went off with someone else. I think people stuck to the same circle of friends too instead of having loads of different partners like we tend to do today. |

Through the 1990s I lived in the London area and the London classified ads paper Loot had a section for adult contacts, where I used to advertise now and again as a single guy seeking straight couples or single fems. Sometimes I had almost more responses than I could cope with, though of course there were always some where one of us decided not to meet.
There wasn't the competition there is now. |
