He turned up to a remembrance parade in Edinburgh with the full Gucci kit and even sporting a VC.

My mate was teaching some SAS troopers to dive back in the 80s, it was winter time and they had no gloves, seriously cold. One of them complained his hands were cold and my mate had a go at him for being soft. The trooper looked at him and said something along the lines of "my hands are just cold but if there's a kill in the air, I'll be there!" My mate shut up and gave them some gloves

TA for 15 years. Used to share a barracks with a Reservist SAS Sqn but rarely saw them as they trained on different days.

We occasionally saw their recruits if we both returned from a weekend away on the same Sunday afternoon. Poor fuckers could barely walk and always looked as if they'd been in a ring with Mike Tyson.

Always amazed us that just like us, they were TA as well and had to go back to work on Monday morning broken!

Ex Infantry. Did my basic at Depot Lichfield in 1984 and left while in lovely Tidworth in 2006. Travelled all over and enjoyed the life. Still miss it.

Once got chatting a bloke who said he was ex special forces. Pissed my self laughing when his mate came back from the bar and I asked him if he was in the same unit. He said yes they’d both served in The Army Catering Corps. Together!
