If, purely hypothetically, you get a message from another account when they've seen, for example, a meet of yours, and, let's suggest, say they'll see you there... But... They appear to be... Utterly awful humans ... What do you do with that message? I'm thinking that, should this be real, I should just quietly ignore it and hope the don't spot us at the event? Or something else...? I might have been drinking...

I would go with gentle honesty.

Something along the lines of 'I hope you enjoy the event, I'm not attracted to you so I wouldn't be looking to engage'

You're going to an event and someone you're not keen on but who has met someone you know has messaged you and is also going?

Just be courteous.

What does that mean though? An open e ded message doesn't really lead to any reply... But man I really want to tell them how horrible their profile is!

BTW, I'm from Hastings! Escaped thank f... But cut my teeth in The Crypt many years back.

,

It means just say make it clear, politely that you're not interested and at the event acknowledge them avoid them.

We like Hastings but if course it's not to everyone's taste.

One of the best chippies in the country in Hastings, in our opinion of course.

Well I admit I wasn't there in the right time of life to find out.

You could tell them you've already made arrangements with others on this occasion and leave it there. You're not here to make everyone happy in the end. Stay true to yourselves and be classy. If you make no more effort to engage most people should take the hint and retire with good grace.
