Power dressing isn't always about suits. It's often more subtle. It's an attitude, a confidence.
I do it when the situation requires it or if I want to feel more confident |

I wear a suit for work. Someone once told me to dress for the job you want, not the job you’ve got. So I chucked the dresses and cardigans and upgraded my wardrobe. I’ve worn a suit for about 3 years. I’m in a different role now and I think it makes people take me more seriously.

Does clothing relate to your identity a little?
Think it was an actress who once quoted, “as soon as I step into the shoes”.
Is power dressing the same? |

Yes I think I take on a different identity in the suit. Both of my jobs require assertiveness that doesn’t come naturally me. I think putting on the suit makes me carry myself with more confidence. Adding heels keeps it feminine (and only I know what’s going on underneath the suit) but I feel more able to assert my authority when dressed formally, |

I feel I step into my femme self. It's not a power thing, but a mask, a different identity I play with. |

For me yes, if I have a really tough meeting , clothes are important part of getting it right , because as well as the confidence it gives me , judging by presence and appearance is a reality. I’ll also dress certain ways to get through certain airports without hassle, and it works.
Also when they come off , I step fully out of the role |

Work in the legal profession and was once told by a female District Judge that when sitting in Court she would always wear stockings and suspenders - gave her a sense of power sitting there with everyone in front of her not having a clue what she was wearing underneath |
